‘Will & Grace’ To End (Again) With Season 11
‘Will & Grace‘ is set to end with the 11th Season it has been announced this evening.
Just over a decade after their unforgettable eight-season run, ‘Will & Grace’ made a triumphant return a few years ago, with Debra Messing & Eric McCormack slipping easily back into the roles of gay lawyer Will Truman & straight interior designer Grace Adler, the two best friends who live (and now work) together. They were, of course, joined by the irrepressible duo of Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes as Jack McFarland and Karen Walker.
“We think of the ‘Will & Grace’ reboot episodes the way Karen Walker thinks of martinis – 51 is not enough, 53 is too many,” commented executive producers Max Mutchnick, David Kohan and James Burrows. “That is why, after consulting with the cast, we all have decided this will be the final season of ‘Will & Grace.’ In 2016, Bob Greenblatt came to us with the idea of doing a 10-episode reboot of ‘Will & Grace.’ They say you can’t go home again, but we did. And now, three seasons and 52 episodes later, we’re even more proud of something we never thought we’d get a chance to do again. We have had a once-in-a-lifetime experience twice. And for that, we owe a double debt of gratitude to NBC, this show’s supportive and caring home since day one.”
‘Will & Grace’ originally premiered in September 1998 and ran until 2006. Over the course of the show, it garnered 16 Emmy® wins and 83 nominations, along with a multitude of other prestigious award wins/nominations, making ‘Will & Grace’ one of television’s most critically acclaimed series and one of the most influential shows in the last 20 years for the LGBT community.
In the UK, the rebooted series was picked up by Channel 5, who have since dropped it, leaving those of us on this side of the Atlantic in ‘Will & Grace’ limbo… However, NBCUniversal is releasing the 10th Season on DVD in the UK on 5th August 2019 and will, presumably, do the same with Season 11.
A premiere date for the 11th (and now final) season of ‘Will & Grace‘ has yet to be announced, but it looks to be arriving on NBC for US audiences in 2020.
