‘Marvel’s Runaways’ Set Crossover Episode With ‘Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger’
Based on the 2003 comic book by Brian K. Vaughan (Buffy Season 8, Saga) and Adrian Alphona (Ms. Marvel, Uncanny X-Force), ‘Marvel’s Runaways’ follows a group of teens who, despite their dislike of each other, must band together against a common enemy… Their parents… When the group discover their various elders are actually part of an evil cabal called ‘PRIDE’, the teens start to learn their true heritage. Some find they have abilities, whilst others decide to swipe some magical items from their evil parents and set out to defeat them.
Marvel’s ‘Cloak & Dagger’ is the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt – ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph – ‘The Night Of’), two teenagers who are awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart.
The episode, which will appear in the 3rd Season of ‘Marvel’s Runaways’ will see Tandy & Tyrone head over to LA to help out the Runaways for an episode. And given we know one of the people they will be dealing with next season is the iconic Marvel villain Morgan le Fay, portrayed by Elizabeth Hurley, they will probably need all the help they can get!
The announcement came in the video above, which sees Rhenzy Feliz (Alex), Lyrica Okano (Nico), Virginia Gardner (Karolina), Ariela Barer (Gert), Gregg Sulkin (Chase), and Allegra Acosta (Molly) joined by Aubrey Joseph (Tyrone) and Olivia Holt (Tandy) on the steps of the Runaway’s bunker.
‘Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger‘ airs on Amazon Prime in the UK, whilst ‘Marvel’s Runaways‘ airs on Syfy UK. If you’re worried about another “‘Chicago’ franchise problem” – i.e. not having access to one of these channels, and them airing at different times – it does seem like this is more of a guest appearance by Tandy & Tyrone on ‘Runaways’, rather than you needing to have seen both shows, so you should be okay. Although both shows are available on Hulu in the US, ‘Runaways’ premieres on Hulu, whilst ‘Cloak & Dagger’ premieres on Freeform. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
