Netflix Releases “First Look” Images For Ryan Murphy Comedy ‘The Politician’
Netflix has released a pile of images for Ryan Murphy’s highly anticipated 8-part comedy series ‘The Politician‘, which comes to the streaming service in September.
The dark comedy follows Payton Hobart (Ben Platt – ‘Pitch Perfect’), a wealthy student from Santa Barbara, California, has known since age seven that he’s going to be President of the United States. But first, he’ll have to navigate the most treacherous political landscape of all: Saint Sebastian High School. To get elected Student Body President, secure a spot at Harvard, and stay on his singular path to success, Payton will have to outsmart his ruthless classmates without sacrificing his own morality and carefully crafted image. Full of comedy and sly satire, Ryan Murphy’s The Politician offers a rare glimpse into just what it takes to make a politician.
Ben Platt is surrounded by a host of talent including Gwyneth Paltrow (‘Iron-Man’), Jessica Lange (‘American Horror Story’), Zoey Deutch (‘The Disaster Artist’), Lucy Boynton (‘Bohemian Rhapsody’), Bob Balaban (‘Broad City’, ‘Pitch’), David Corenswet, Julia Schlaepfer (‘Moe & Jerryweather’), Laura Dreyfuss (‘Glee’), Theo Germaine, Rahne Jones, and Benjamin Barrett. The series also stars Dylan McDermott, January Jones, David Corenswet, Judith Light and Bette Midler.
Ryan Murphy is, of course, the man behind ‘American Horror Story’, ‘Pose’, ‘American Crime Story’, ‘9-1-1’, ‘Feud’, ‘Glee’ and many many other series. He serves as writer, showrunner and executive producer, alongside frequent collaborators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan who also write and exec produce.
‘The Politician‘ Season 1 premieres Friday, 27th September 2019 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
