Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill and Laura Dern Return For ‘Jurassic World 3’

‘Jurassic World 3’ is going to get the original ‘Jurassic Park’ gang reunited, as it is announced Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill and Laura Dern will all reprise their roles in the next instalment of the franchise.

Neill will return as Dr. Alan Grant, alongside Dern’s Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Goldblum’s Dr. Ian Malcolm. They will be joined by current ‘Jurassic World’ stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard for ‘Jurassic World 3’. Although all three of the actors have popped up in other movies in the Jurassic franchise, this will be the first time they all appear together in a movie since the original.

When we last saw Alan Grant, it was in ‘Jurassic Park III’, where he escaped Isla Sorna. Ellie Sattler also popped up in a cameo role on that film, where it was revealed they were no longer a couple, she was now a children’s writer and had married a guy named Mark from the State Dept, but remained close friends with Grant. Ian Malcolm popped up in ‘Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom’ arguing in a court hearing that the dinos on Isla Nublar should be left to their fate when the volcano erupts. Obviously, he lost that battle, or we wouldn’t have had a movie!

Joining the Jurassic team behind the cameras is Emily Carmichael (‘Pacific Rim Uprising’, ‘The Black Hole’), who has co-written the ‘Jurassic World 3’ screenplay with Colin Trevorrow, who also returns to direct. They worked from a story by Derek Connolly and Trevorrow, who together co-wrote ‘Jurassic World’ and ‘Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom’. Steven Spielberg and Trevorrow executive produce the next chapter, and producers Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley once again partner with Spielberg and Trevorrow for this instalment.

Whilst they haven’t given out details of the plot for ‘Jurassic World 3’, we do know it will follow the aftermath left by ‘Fallen Kingdom’ – SPOILERS FOR THAT MOVIE INCOMING… If you remember the end of the film, the dinosaurs which had been captured to sell on the black market escaped from the estate where they were being held. This led to Dr. Malcolm declaring the beginning of a Neo-Jurassic Age, where humans and dinosaurs coexist, as we see the dinos roaming around the wilderness and near to urban areas. Colin Trevorrow and Emily Carmichael actually followed that movie up with a short film, titled ‘Battle at Big Rock’, which expands on the reality in which the ‘Jurassic World’… erm… world… now sits. You can see that below.

Trevorrow directed 2015’s Jurassic World, which went on to gross $1.67 billion worldwide and is the sixth-highest-grossing film in cinema history. Trevorrow will also continue to consult with Spielberg and Marshall on the management of the growing Jurassic brand, including video games, toys, novels, animated LEGO shorts and theme parks. The Jurassic franchise, which celebrated its 25th-anniversary last year, has grossed more than $5 billion collectively at the worldwide box office.

‘Jurassic World 3’ will roar into cinemas worldwide on 11 June 2021.
