Netflix Sets November Premiere Date For ‘Atypical’ Season 3

Netflix’s brilliant and critically acclaimed comedy Atypical will return for Season 3 this November it has been announced this morning.

‘Atypical’ is a coming of age story that follows Sam (Keir Gilchrist), an 18-year-old on the autistic spectrum as he searches for love and independence. While Sam is on his funny and emotional journey of self-discovery, the rest of his family must grapple with change in their own lives as they all struggle with the central theme: what does it really mean to be normal?

Jennifer Jason Leigh stars as his mother, Elsa, who is on her own journey of self-discovery. Michael Rapaport plays his father, Doug. Brigette Lundy-Paine plays Sam’s sister, Casey, and Amy Okuda plays a therapist, Julia.

Season 2 of the series saw Elsa and Doug faced the aftermath of their marriage crisis and Casey tried to adjust to her new school, while Sam prepared for life after graduation. At the end of that season, we saw Sam win a place to Denton University’s Scientific Illustration course, so Season 3 is likely to feature some major changes for the family. We do know that Sara Gilbert (‘Rosanne’, ‘Big Bang Theory’) has been added to the cast for the upcoming season.

The cast made the Season 3 announcement on social media this morning with the following video:

‘Atypical’ is written and executive produced by Robia Rashid (‘How I Met Your Mother’ ‘Will & Grace’). Academy Award-winning producer Seth Gordon and Mary Rohlich, who have both worked on hit series and films including Baywatch, The Goldbergs and Horrible Bosses also executive produce alongside Rashid.

Atypical’ Season 3 premieres Friday, 1st November 2019 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
