MCM London: Watch The Main Stage Panel For Steven Knight’s Apple TV+ Sci-fi Drama ‘See’ Starring Jason Momoa

by Dave Elliott

It was a busy Friday on day one of MCM London Comic Con, and things kicked off with a bang, as they treated fans to a premiere screening of the upcoming Apple TV+ drama See from ‘Peaky Blinders’ creator Steven Knight, starring Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa.

Set in the far future, a virus has decimated humankind. Those who survived emerged blind. Jason Momoa stars as Baba Voss, the father of twins born centuries later with the mythic ability to see – who must protect his tribe against a powerful yet desperate queen who believes it’s witchcraft and wants them destroyed.

Alfre Woodard (‘Luke Cage’) stars as Paris, Baba Voss’ spiritual leader, along with Yadira Guevara-Prip, Sylvia Hoeks, Nesta Cooper, Archie Madekwe, Christian Camargo, Hera Hilmar and Marilee Talkington.

The show is created by Steven Knight, the man behind ‘Peaky Blinders’ and ‘Taboo’, with Francis Lawrence (‘The Hunger Games’ films, ‘I Am Legend’, ‘Red Sparrow’) directing. The 8-episode series comes from Chernin Entertainment and Endeavor Content for Apple. Knight and Lawrence exec produce along with Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and Kristen Campo for Chernin Ent.

Following the screening, the cast and crew of the drama came on stage to chat about the show and what else may be in store when the series arrives on the 1st November 2019. In attendance were creator Steven Knight and director Francis Lawrence, alongside stars Jason Momoa, Alfre Woodard and Archie Madekwe.

Whilst we obviously can’t give any details about the episode itself (other than it was fantastic!), some of the behind-the-scenes info was just as interesting. Knight and Lawrence discuss the cost of the drama, which is not as much as has been reported online… They did, however, drain a river for the filming! Momoa talks about what he does during downtime on set. The cast also discusses the training they went through to portray the blind characters and the obvious issues with performing fight sequences when the characters aren’t supposed to be able to see each other!

For those of you wondering how to get Apple TV+, from 1st November, the service will be available on the Apple TV app via iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch, Mac, and online at tv.apple.com across 100 countries and regions, including the UK.
