Netflix Renews Ryan Murphy’s ‘The Politician’ For Season 2

Netflix has handed a Season 2 renewal to Ryan Murphy series The Politician it has been revealed today.

The dark comedy follows Payton Hobart (Ben Platt – ‘Pitch Perfect’), a wealthy student from Santa Barbara, California, has known since age seven that he’s going to be President of the United States. But first, he’ll have to navigate the most treacherous political landscape of all: Saint Sebastian High School. To get elected Student Body President, secure a spot at Harvard, and stay on his singular path to success, Payton will have to outsmart his ruthless classmates without sacrificing his own morality and carefully crafted image. Full of comedy and sly satire, Ryan Murphy’s The Politician offers a rare glimpse into just what it takes to make a politician.

Ben Platt himself revealed the renewal, posted his sign on the front of his dressing room door adding “we back #season2”. You can see the tweet below:

Platt is surrounded by a host of talent on the series including Gwyneth Paltrow (‘Iron-Man’), Jessica Lange (‘American Horror Story’), Zoey Deutch (‘The Disaster Artist’), Lucy Boynton (‘Bohemian Rhapsody’), Bob Balaban (‘Broad City’, ‘Pitch’), David Corenswet, Julia Schlaepfer (‘Moe & Jerryweather’), Laura Dreyfuss (‘Glee’), Theo Germaine, Rahne Jones, and Benjamin Barrett. The series also stars Dylan McDermott, January Jones, David Corenswet, Judith Light and Bette Midler.

Netflix original comedy series from Creators/Executive Producers/Writers/Directors Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan. The first season consisted of eight hour-long episodes and was produced by Fox 21 Television Studios.

The Politician‘ Season 1 is on Netflix UK and worldwide right now. Season 2 is expected to premiere in 2020.
