Starz Developing ‘Weeds’ Revival With Mary-Louise Parker

US network Starz is looking to bring back Weeds with Mary-Louise Parker set to return in her leading role it has been revealed.

The original series starred Mary-Louise Parker as Nancy Botwin, a widowed mother of two boys Silas and Shane, who begins selling marijuana to support her family. This new series would continue the story of the Botwin’s, picking up 10 years after we last saw them, and in an America where marijuana has become legal in many states.

Original series producers, Lionsgate TV, are the people behind the revival, which would see Parker reprise her role as Nancy and serve as exec producer. Victoria Morrow, who exec produced and wrote episodes of the original series is set to pen the new show. However, original series creator Jenji Kohan is not currently attached to the project.

‘Weeds’ first launched on Showtime in 2005 and ran for 6 Seasons until 2012. Over the course of its run, the series received multiple awards and nominations including Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for Best Comedy Series, Best Actress Golden Globe and Satellite Awards wins for Mary-Louise Parker, and a Writers Guild of America win for creator Jenji Kohan.

Alongside Parker, the series starred Hunter Parrish, Alexander Gould, Justin Kirk, Kevin Nealon, Elizabeth Perkins, Andy Milder, Allie Grant, Tonye Patano and Romany Malco. At the moment it is unclear who else out of the original cast may return in the revival.

The Weeds revival is only in development at the moment, so may not go to series, but we’ll let you know if and when we hear more.
