Netflix Renews Zombie Drama ‘Black Summer’ For Season 2

Netflix has renewed zombie drama Black Summer for a 2nd season the streaming service has announced today.

The series followers survivors of a cataclysmic event who contend with zombies – and each other – to reach a military evacuation site. Jaime King stars as a mother, torn from her daughter, who embarks upon a harrowing journey, stopping at nothing to find her. Thrust alongside a small group of American refugees, she must brave a hostile new world and make brutal decisions during the most deadly summer of a zombie apocalypse.

The series comes from ‘Z Nation’s Karl Schaefer and John Hyams, who serves as creators, executive producers, and co-showrunners. It was originally being touted as a “spin-off” but the shows haven’t really had any direct connection to each other, apart from them both being set in the same zombie apocalypse.

Whist Netflix do not release ratings, they did start releases Top 10 lists back in April, the same week Season 1 aired, where the series took the top slot in the UK.

You can watch season 1 of Black Summer on Netflix right now. The streaming service has not given a premiere date for Season 2, but it will presumably land in 2020. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
