Amazon Renews Award-Winning ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ For Season 4

Amazon has renewed their hilarious and award-winning comedy series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ for a 4th Season the streaming service has announced.

The series stars Rachel Brosnahan as Miriam ‘Midge’ Maisel, a 1958 New York City woman, who discovers she has a talent for stand-up comedy. In Season 1 we saw her finding her feet on stage. Season 2 saw her climb up the comedy ladder, but the grind of being a comic began to take its toll, as she has to come clean to her family.

If you remember the end of that season, Midge had been offered a tour with the famous singer, Shy Baldwin (Leroy McClain). The 3rd Season, which launched Friday 6th December, sees Midge and Susie discover that life on tour with Shy is glamorous but humbling, and they learn a lesson about show business they’ll never forget. Joel struggles to support Midge while pursuing his own dreams, Abe embraces a new mission and Rose learns she has talents of her own.

“We were thrilled to hear that for the fourth time, we do not have to pack up and vacate the premises,” commented Creator and Executive Producer Amy Sherman-Palladino (‘Gilmore Girls’) and Executive Producer Daniel Palladino (‘Gilmore Girls’). “We’d like to thank Amazon for all their faith and support, their partnership and enthusiasm, and for letting us hang with our favourite people, the cast and crew of Maisel, for a little while longer.”

The renewal doesn’t come as a huge surprise, given the armfuls of awards the comedy has garnered for Amazon. ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ is the winner of sixteen Emmy Awards including Outstanding Comedy series, three Golden Globes including Best TV Series – Comedy, five Critics’ Choice Awards including Best Comedy Series, two PGA Awards, a WGA Award, and a Peabody Award. Just this week the series received two Golden Globe nominations, one for Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy, and one for star Rachel Brosnahan for Best Performance by an Actress in a Series, Musical or Comedy.

“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has been a worldwide phenomenon, and Season 3 has been no exception, with the series’ most watched opening weekend ever. We’re so happy that our Prime Video customers will get to see Midge’s story continue in Season 4,” adds Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios. “Amy and Dan have created such funny, charming, relatable characters, all with their inimitable wit and eye for detail, and our customers around the world will be delighted to have another season in the world of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”

Alongside Emmy and Golden Globe winner Rachel Brosnahan, ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ stars Golden Globe winner and four-time Emmy winner Tony Shalhoub (‘Monk’), two-time Emmy winner Alex Borstein (‘Family Guy’), Emmy nominee Marin Hinkle (‘Two and a Half Men’), Michael Zegen (‘Boardwalk Empire’), Kevin Pollak (‘The Usual Suspects’), Caroline Aaron (’21 Jump Street’) and Emmy winner Jane Lynch (‘Glee’).

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Seasons 1 to 3 are streaming on Amazon Prime Video right now.
