Amazon Picks Up Adaptation Of Rick Remender’s Comic Book ‘Fear Agent’
Amazon has picked up another comic book show, this time adapting Rick Remender & Tony Moore’s ‘Fear Agent’ from Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Matt Tolmach & David F. Sandberg.
Interstellar invaders… Time travel… Clones of clones of clones… and lots of whiskey! Whether he’s battling the scourge of space, going back in time to stop the alien invasion that changed Earth forever, or winning his ex-wife back, there’s nothing that Heath Huston won’t do to try to right the wrongs and gets his family back. He is, after all, the last Fear Agent.
‘Shazam!’ director David F. Sandberg is set to helm the show and exec produce, with a script from Mattson Tomlin, who co-wrote upcoming DC movie ‘The Batman’ with Matt Reeves. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver exec produce via Point Grey Productions, along with Matt Tolmach and David Manpearl, who previously worked together on the SYFY show ‘Future Man’.
Remender has signed a 3yr deal with Sony Pictures Television, who will produce ‘Fear Agent’, and also produced the short-lived ‘Deadly Class’, on which Remender also served as showrunner. Remender & Tony Moore also EP the series.
The original books were published by Dark Horse and Image Comics, and written by Remender with art by Moore and Jerome Opena. The series ran from 2005 to 2011, across a total of 32 issues. The stories follow Heath Huston, a Fear Agent, who is someone recruited to a task force dedicated to eradicating alien threats to member planets. In Heath’s case, the planet is Earth. He’s from Texas, a bit of a redneck, and a lot of an alcoholic… It seems very much like the sort of show you would expect from the Rogen/Goldberg camp!
No news yet on when ‘Fear Agent’ may land on Amazon, but we’ll let you know when we hear more.
