‘Better Call Saul’ Season 5 Gets New Trailer With A Familiar Face

by Dave Elliott

A new trailer for the upcoming 5th Season of Better Call Saul, which premieres this February, has landed, and a includes another familiar face from ‘Breaking Bad’.

Bob Odenkirk returns to star as Jimmy McGill, the small-time lawyer/con-man on his transformational journey to becoming Saul Goodman, the shady lawyer of a certain two blue-meth dealing reprobates…

In the wake of the death of his brother, Chuck, Jimmy took steps into the criminal world that put his future as a lawyer – and his relationship with Kim – in jeopardy. If you remember, for most of last season unable to work as a lawyer, due to his license suspension and an upcoming reinstatement hearing. In the finale, Jimmy makes an emotional appeal to the panel, saying he wants to bring credit to the McGill name if allowed to practice law again. It works, but the moment he gets his license back he tells Kim it’s a lie, and he will practice under an alias instead. As we head into Season 5, Jimmy’s decision to practice law as “Saul Goodman” creates unexpected and profound waves of change for those in his orbit.

One of those “waves of change” seems to be a run-in with the DEA, and that means the return of Dean Norris as Walter White’s brother-in-law, Hank, alongside his partner, Steve Gomez (Steven Michael Quazada). The trailer doesn’t give anything away as to how Hank and “Saul” cross paths, but we are very interested to see how things play out!

The new season sees Rhea Seehorn return as Kim Wexler, along with Jonathan Banks as Mike Ehrmantraut, Michael Mando as Nacho Varga, Giancarlo Esposito as Gus Fring, Patrick Fabian as Howard Hamlin and Tony Dalton, who is promoted from a recurring role to series regular as Lalo Salamanca. We also get a posthumous appearance from Robert Forster, who sadly passed away last year, as “vacuum repairman” Ed Galbraith.

Earlier this month, ‘Better Call Saul’ was renewed for a 6th and final season. The series has garnered a 2018 Peabody Award, and, over four seasons, has earned 32 Emmy Award nominations, three Golden Globe Award nominations, two Writers Guild Awards, three Critics’ Choice Awards, two Television Critics Association Awards and three AFI Awards for “TV Programs of the Year,” among many other Guild nominations.

Better Call Saul‘ Season 5 premieres Sunday, February 23, 2020, with episode 2 airing Monday, February 24, 2020 on AMC in the US. That should mean Netflix airs the drama on Monday, 24th February 2020 and Tuesday, 25th February 2020 in the UK.
