‘V Wars’ & ‘October Faction’ Cancelled At Netflix After 1 Season

Netflix has opted not to renew two of its freshmen sci-fi/fantasy shows, as the streaming service drops both V Wars & October Faction after one season.

‘V-Wars’ starred ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder as Dr Luther Swann, who entered a world of untold horror when a mysterious disease transforms his best friend, Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes – ‘Arrow’, ‘Continuum’), into a murderous predator who feeds on other humans. As the disease spread and more people are transformed, society fractured into opposing camps pitting normal people against the growing number of these “vampires.” Swann raced against time to understand what’s happening, while Fayne rises to become the powerful underground leader of the vampires.

‘October Faction’ followed globetrotting monster hunters Fred (J.C. MacKenzie – ‘Dark Angel’, ‘Vinyl’) and Deloris Allen (Tamara Taylor – ‘Bones’, ‘Altered Carbon’) who, after the death of Fred’s father, returned to their hometown in New York with their children Geoff (Gabriel Darku – ‘Impulse’, ‘American Gods’) and Viv (Aurora Burghart – ‘Sex Education’). In their new small-town setting, the family had to adjust and assimilate while Fred and Deloris tried to hide their identities as members of a secret organization.

As with all Netflix shows, we don’t know actual viewing figures, but it seems likely that the cost of producing these two dramas outweighed the viewing numbers for them. Both of these properties were based on IDW comic book adaptations, and whilst it’s not great news for them, there is some light in the darkness, as the streaming service did opt to renew their other series, ‘Locke & Key’, For Season 2.

The one and only seasons of ‘V Wars‘ & ‘October Faction‘ can be watched right now on Netflix.
