‘Superman & Lois’ Casts Emmanuelle Chriqui & Erik Valdez As Lana Lang & Husband
Arrowverse’s ‘Superman & Lois‘ has added a couple more key cast members, as they announce Emmanuelle Chriqui (‘The Passage’) will take the role of Lana Lang, whilst Erik Valdez (‘Graceland’) will play her husband, Kyle Cushing.
‘Superman & Lois’ sees Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch reprise their Arrowverse roles as the man of steel and his intrepid reporter wife. The series, which comes from ‘The Flash’ EP Todd Helbing and Arrowverse boss Greg Berlanti, revolves around the world’s most famous superhero and comic books’ most famous journalist as they deal with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society.
Emmanuelle Chriqui takes the series regular role of Lana Lang-Cushing. The Arrowverse version of Lana is the loan officer at Smallville Bank who stayed in Smallville when others left for something bigger and brighter. Lana re-establishes her friendship with her old friend, Clark Kent, during one of the most difficult periods in her life.
Chriqui most recently starred in ‘The Passage’ as Dr Lila Kyle, and Hulu series ‘Shut Eye’ as Gina. She previously popped up on ‘Murder in the First’ and ‘The Mentalist’ and played Sloan in ‘Entourage’. She is no stranger to DC Comics and has plenty of “geek cred”, having voiced the character of Sapphire Stagg in animated series ‘Beware the Batman’, along with voicing Cheetara in ‘Thundercats’ and Paige in ‘TRON: Uprising’.
Erik Valdez takes the series regular role of Kyle Cushing, Smallville’s fire chief and local hero who’s seen his fair share of tragedy. He is small-town raised with small-town beliefs. He doesn’t care much for the big city and often butts heads with people that come from it.
Valdez is probably best known for his role as Carlito Solano, Jr. in the series ‘Graceland’, and playing Trey Mitchell in long-running US drama ‘General Hospital’. He has also popped up in episodes of ‘New Girl’, ‘90210’, ‘Gilmore Girls’, and ‘CSI: Miami’.
They join Hoechlin and Tulloch as Clark & Lois; Jordan Elsass (‘Little Fires Everywhere’) & Alexander Garfin (‘The Peanuts Movie’) as the couples now teen children, Jonathan and Jordan Kent; And the recently announced Dylan Walsh (‘Nip/Tuck’, ‘Longmire’, ‘Unforgettable’) who takes over the role of General Samuel Lane, Lois’s father.
Former ‘Flash’ showrunner Todd Helbing exec produces the series alongside with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns via Berlanti Productions. ‘Superman & Lois’ was given a straight-to-series order of 13-episodes, although, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, nothing is shooting at the moment. They hope to manage to shoot the run over the Summer sometime, with an eye to premiering either Autumn or early 2021.
‘Superman & Lois‘ will air on The CW in the USA. There is no official UK pick up yet, but let us hope the Sky One acquisitions team aren’t asleep at the wheel this time and manage to bag it for broadcast, rather than have another ‘Batwoman’ fiasco… We’ll let you know when we hear more.
