ITV Sets April UK Premiere Date For Marc Warren Fronted ‘Van Der Valk’ Series
ITV has set an April UK premiere date for the brand new remake of the classic detective drama ‘Van Der Valk‘ starring Marc Warren in the titular role, the broadcaster has announced.
For those of you unfamiliar with ‘Van Der Valk’, the series follows a street smart and unapologetic Dutch detective (Warren) as he navigates the lively and enigmatic city of Amsterdam, solving mysterious crimes using astute human observation and inspired detection. The original show was produced by Thames Television starring Barry Foster and ran for five series from 1972 to 1992.
Joining Warren in the cast are Maimie McCoy (‘DCI Banks’, ‘The Musketeers’) as Lucienne Hassell, his gutsy and fiercely competent right-hand woman, along with Luke Allen-Gale (‘Dominion’), Elliot Barnes-Worrell (‘Jericho’), Darrell D’Silva (‘Strike Back’), Emma Fielding (‘Les Misérables’), Kees Boot (‘Judas’), Reinout Bussemaker (‘Flikken Maastricht’), Frances Grey (‘Home Fires’), Daniel Lapaine (‘The Durrells’), Stephanie Leonidas (‘Snatch’), Mike Libanon (‘Kill Switch’) and Vineeta Rishi (‘Line of Duty’).
The new series comes from Company Pictures, the people behind shows such as ‘Inspector George Gently’, ‘The Missing’, ‘Bulletproof’, and ‘The White Princess’, alongside All3Media International. The drama has been picked up for broadcast by ITV in the UK, ARD in Germany, France Télévisions and NPO in the Netherlands.
Chris Murray, who has written on shows such as ‘Midsomer Murders’, ‘Lewis’, ‘Casualty’, and ‘Missing’, created the 3 feature-length episodes. The 90min episodes, which were filmed on location in Amsterdam, are exec produced by Michele Buck (‘Endeavour’, ‘Parade’s End’, ‘Lewis’, Agatha Christie’s ‘Miss Marple’ and ‘Poirot’) for Company Pictures and Louise Pedersen (‘Blood’) for all3media international with Sabine Brian as co-producer for NL Films and Keith Thompson (‘Vikings’, ‘Foyle’s War’) serving as series producer.
‘Van Der Valk‘ Season 1 premieres Sunday, 26th April 2020 at 8pm on ITV.
