Team Downey & Adam Perlman Land Straight-To-Series Order For Detective Drama On Apple TV+

After the success of ‘Perry Mason’, Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey’s Team Downey have landed a straight-to-series order for another detective drama, alongside Adam Perlman, but this time over on Apple TV+.

The new series is based on an article by Michael Lista in Toronto Life titled “The Sting”. The story follows a frustrated Canadian detective who takes on a decades-old cold case in hopes of winning a confession and becoming a hero. However, the case quickly spirals out of control when the undercover cop attempts an elaborate sting, adding playacting cops, taxpayer resources, and an unexpected friendship with the peculiar target. You can read the actual article here.

Adam Perlman, whose previous work includes ‘Billions’, ‘The Newsroom’ and ‘The Good Wife’, will pen the script and serve as exec producer. Robert Downey Jr., Susan Downey and Amanda Burrell will exec produce for Team Downey who are producing the project. RDJ may also take on a supporting role on screen. Writer of the original article, Michael Lista, co-executive produces.

Along with a second season of ‘Perry Mason’, and this new series for Apple, Team Downey are also producing the upcoming Netflix series ‘Sweet Tooth’, based on the DC/Vertigo comic book. On the movie side, they previously produced ‘Dolittle’, with RDJ in the lead role, and are in pre-production on psychological thriller ‘A Head Full of Ghosts’, which stars Margaret Qualley (‘The Leftovers’, ‘Fosse/Verdon’) and is directed by Scott Cooper (‘Black Mass’, ‘Hostiles’).

There is no news yet on a title for the series, or when it’ll land on Apple TV+, but we’ll let you know when we hear more.
