STARZPLAY UK has picked up the single-season of Hulu’s recently cancelled adaptation of Nick Hornby’s 1995 novel High Fidelity starring Zoë Kravitz it has been announced.

The original novel follows Rob, a London record store owner who, along with his employees Dick and Barry, obsess over music, pop culture, and “Top 5” lists of things. When Rob’s girlfriend leaves him he starts to re-evaluate his life by creating a “Top 5” list of worst breakups and hits upon the idea of contacting his exes to find out why the split.

The TV series gender-switches the role of Rob, and sees Zoë Kravitz takes the lead as the music and pop culture obsessed record store owner who revisits past relationships through music and pop culture. She is joined at Championship Vinyl by Da’Vine Joy Randolph (‘Dolemite Is My Name’) as Cherise, one of the employees and one of Rob’s best friends, alongside David H. Holmes (‘Mr. Robot’) as Simon, Rob’s other best friend and employee. Jake Lacy (‘I’m Dying Up Here’, ‘Fosse/Vernon’) plays Clyde, a disastrous hook up of Rob’s which sends her to reexamine her past breakups.

This new version comes from ‘Bull’ & ‘Ugly Betty’ writer/producers Veronica West & Sarah Kucserka, along with studios Midnight Radio and ABC Signature. Kravitz also exec produces. Be warned though, Hulu cancelled the show after one season, so don’t get attached!

For those of you confused as to what is STARZPLAY, you can get it as an addition “add-on” channel via Amazon Prime Video, Virgin Media, Rakuten TV and Apple TV. You can also get it on it’s own directly via the STARZPLAY website. The service costs £4.99 a month. Over the past few months, it has been building a solid list of high-quality shows, making it well worth the additional fee, which you can turn on and off month by month, so if you want to subscribe for a few months and binge through things, then turn it off, go for it!

The one and only season of ‘High Fidelity‘ will premiere on STARZPLAY UK – Date to be confirmed (the date which was previously announced was apparently released in error!)
