Netflix Renews German Drama ‘Biohackers’ For Season 2

Netflix has renewed the german-language drama Biohackers‘ for a 2nd Season the streaming service has announced.

From THC chips to genetic enhancements, the drama welcomes you to the world of Biohacking. Written and directed by Christian Ditter (‘Girlboss’, ‘Turkish for Beginners’) the series follows a medical student who discovers the use of highly advanced biohacking technology in her university town and has to decide how far she is willing to go to find out the truth.

When “Mia” (Luna Wedler) begins her medical degree, she seems like any other student. But as she gains the trust of the brilliant Professor Lorenz (Jessica Schwarz), it becomes apparent that she’s hiding a secret so big it could change the fate of humanity.

“Given the overwhelmingly positive response to the first season, we are thrilled to head into another season of Biohackers with Christian Ditter, Claussen+Putz and the two outstanding actresses, Luna Wedler and Jessica Schwarz in the leading roles,” commented Rachel Eggebeen, Director German Original Series at Netflix. “We are incredibly excited to find out how things will continue between Mia and Prof. Tanja Lorenz.”

‘Biohackers’ comes from Christian Ditter who is writer, director and showrunner. The drama is produced by Uli Putz and Jakob Claussen of Claussen+Putz Filmproduktion. The music for the show is by friend of Geektown, Fil Eisler. You can listen to our latest interview with him here.

Regarding the second season, Ditter already has some ideas. “Thematically, the second season will also deal with moral and ethical issues around biohacking and genome editing,” he commented.

Biohackers‘ Season 1 is available to watch, either dubbed in English or in the original German with subtitles, on Netflix UK and worldwide right now.
