Disney Plus Announces October Premiere Date For ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2

Disney+ has announced the much anticipated 2nd Season of The Mandalorian will premiere this October on the streaming service.

Set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order, ‘The Mandalorian’ follows the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. Over the course of season one, Din Djarin, aka “Mando”, finds himself with a bounty to kill a target, only to discover that the target in question is something very different to what he expected… When greeted by the adorable face of “The Child” (often referred to as “Baby Yoda”), Mando takes the infant into his protection, leading to the hunter becoming the hunted.

The series stars Pedro Pascal in the title role, alongside Gina Carano (‘Deadpool’) as Cara Dune, Carl Weathers (‘Predator’) as Greef Karga, and Giancarlo Esposito (‘Breaking Bad’) as Moff Gideon, who are also expected to return for Season 2. New faces this season include Temuera Morrison (‘Star Wars’), who is believed to be playing the iconic bounty hunter Boba Fett; Katee Sackhoff, who is thought to be playing ‘Star Wars Rebels’ Bo-Katan, which she voiced in the animated series; Rosario Dawson, who is believed to be playing her fan-favourite ‘Star Wars Rebels/Clone Wars’ character, Ahsoka Tano for the first time in live-action; Timothy Olyphant is said to be playing Cobb Vanth, a character from the ‘Star Wars: Aftermath‘ novels, a former slave who acquired Boba Fett’s Mandalorian armour; And Michael Biehn (‘Terminator’, ‘Aliens’), who is playing a fellow bounty hunter from Mando’s past.

The series was created by Jon Favreau, who exec produces alongside Dave Filoni. Season 2’s directors include Favreau, Filoni (who previously directed the pilot and “The Gunslinger”), Rick Famuyiwa (Season 1’s “The Child”, “The Prisoner”), Robert Rodriguez (‘Sin City’) and Peyton Reed (‘Ant-Man’), alongside cast member Carl Weathers who steps behind the camera as well this season.

The Mandalorian‘ Season 2 premieres Friday, 30th October 2020 on Disney Plus.
