Five Fun Online Games You Can Play Today

Have you good a decent internet connection? Good, but if not, then browse the broadband deals and choose a suitable package. If you’re not the only gamer in the house, make sure you allow 20 Mbps or more per person. We’ve picked out some of the best games online and you’ll be glad you took that precautionary step with your internet because these ones will suck you right in. Keep a stopwatch, egg timer or some other time-measuring device nearby just so you still know what day it is. Now let’s get into them.

Among Us

Among Us is a 4-10 player online game (or can be played via local WiFi) where you attempt to prepare your spaceship for departure… but beware… one or more random players among the Crew are Impostors bent on killing everyone! The game was initially released in 2018, but has seen a massive leap in popularity in 2020 thanks to a number of high-profile Twitch streamers and YouTubers playing the title. It’s a wonderfully fun game of cooperation… and backstabbing!

Tetris 99

This is a handsome twist on the classic from the 24-carat gold decade that was the eighties. You’re still making those horizontal lines disappear, but this time you’re up against 99 other players and aiming to be the last one standing. You can fire ‘garbage’ blocks and lines their way, making it harder for them to clear their screens. They can do the same to you, too, so get ready for frustration but also for the business-as-usual immense entertainment this iconic puzzle game delivers.

PUBG

Short for ‘Players Unknown Battlegrounds’, PUBG is the battle royale the others want to be. It’s a shooter and you’re up against the magic number of opponents: 99. You all jump out of a plane with just the shirt on your back, land and have to stay alive, searching for weapons and anything else that can help you achieve this lofty goal. . The locations on the map shrink at random, so you’ve got to get into the safe zones. That’s basically it and it’s addictive. Would you want it any other way?

Overcooked 2

The ‘Overcooked’ games take original to new heights. It’s a chaotic four-player game in which you’re all working in unconventional kitchens and serving sushi, pasta, burritos, burgers… you name it. All the while you’ve got to contend with fires, collapsing floors, demanding waiters, floating surfaces and more. You’re doing it all to save the Onion King, who has cooked up an army of undead bread: the Unbread.

This game is tremendous entertainment. Don’t let the cartoon-style graphics fool you. It’s not as easy as you think and as you progress through levels you’re going to really have to pull together.

Fortnite Battle Royale

‘Fortnite: Battle Royale’ is Epic Games’ attack on ‘PUBG’ and it’s more or less the same idea: you’re dropped off in the middle of nowhere and scavenging for weapons to survive. That’s the formula and it’s pretty much sticking to it.

It’s a free online game with a premium feel to it, but there are paid versions if you want to upgrade and get more out of it. The design is simple and there’s a much lighter military feel to it than a lot of shooters out there, which is part of what makes it so refreshing and popular. The game’s makers are looking constantly to enhance the game, however, so all the other popular shooters need to seriously look out. This one is unloading every ounce of ammo on them.

All these games are the business. You’ll be working together with others or against others and playing in real-time, so make sure your internet connection is up to the job. Otherwise you never know when it’s going to be game over. Online opponents take no prisoners.
