‘Back’ – Season 2 Of Mitchell & Webb’s Sitcom Premieres January On Channel 4

Back is finally back, as Channel 4 announce David Mitchell and Robert Webb return in the sitcom from Emmy-award winning Simon Blackwell (‘Veep’, ‘In The Loop’, ‘Peep Show’) this January.

Season 1 of the comedy saw Mitchell star as Stephen, whose father Laurie was a local legend and pub landlord. When Laurie died, Stephen was finally set to take over the pub. Stephen saw this as his chance to shine – his only achievements so far had been marriage (followed by divorce) and a slightly disappointing pub refurb. But when the charming Andrew (Webb) turned up out of the blue at his dad’s funeral, Stephen’s plans go awry…

As we begin Season 2, a rejuvenated Stephen prepares to head back to the John Barleycorn after a long absence, just as Andrew is starting to feel restricted and weighed down by the mundanities of being a provincial pub landlord. Have the tables now turned for these reluctant foster brothers? When Stephen returns, his sister Cass (Loo Brealey) tells him some surprising news about their mum Ellen’s (Penny Downie) relationship status, while the opening of a rival cutting-edge pub just up the road evokes curiosity and trepidation, especially when it becomes apparent that the new establishment needs a manager, and plans to headhunt a certain hotshot from the Barleycorn.

Back‘ Season 2 premieres Thursday, 21st January 2021 at 10pm on Channel 4.
