Hollywood actor/comedian/singer Jamie Foxx is returning to his sitcom roots, as Netflix releases a trailer and announces an April premiere date for Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!.

Brian Dixon (Foxx), a successful business owner and bachelor, just became a full-time father to his teenage daughter Sasha (Kyla-Drew – ‘No Good Nick’). Determined to be the best father he can be, Brian’s going to need all the help he can get from his dad (David Alan Grier – ‘In Living Color’, ‘The Cool Kids’) and sister (Porscha Coleman – ‘Good Girls’, ‘Paradise City’) — and Sasha’s going to need all the help she can get learning how to deal with her new, lovingly chaotic.

Full of heart and humour, the series is inspired by Foxx’s real-life relationship with daughter Corinne Foxx, who also serves as executive producer. The multi-cam sitcom reunites Foxx with showrunner Bentley Kyle Evans (‘The Jamie Foxx Show’) and is directed by Ken Whittingham (‘black-ish’).

Whilst Jamie Foxx is probably best known these days for his major Hollywood roles in films such as ‘Ray’, ‘Django Unchained’ and ‘Collateral’, be began his career on sketch comedy series ‘In Living Color’ and his own sitcom, ‘The Jamie Foxx Show’. Alongside this project, Foxx has a number of other things in the works, including (if the rumours are correct) reprising his role as Electro in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, and potentially starring in a film version of the comic book character ‘Spawn’ (although that film has been kicking around “development hell” for a few years.) He can currently be heard as the voice of Joel in Disney/Pixar’s wonderful film ‘Soul’, and in the Netflix movie ‘Project Power’.

Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!‘ Season 1 premieres Friday, 14th April 2021 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
