Sky One Sets May UK Premiere Date For ‘S.W.A.T.’ Season 4 & ‘MacGyver’ Season 5
Sky One has set May return date for both ‘S.W.A.T.‘, which is back for Season 4, and ‘MacGyver‘ which returns for a 5th and final season.
Inspired by the television series and the feature film, ‘S.W.A.T.’ stars Shemar Moore as a former Marine and locally born and raised S.W.A.T. sergeant, tasked to run a specialized tactical unit that is the last stop in law enforcement in Los Angeles.
As we return for Season 4, Hondo (Moore), his father Daniel Sr. (Obba Babatundé) and his teen charge Darryl (Deshae Frost) confront the history of racial tension in Los Angeles between law enforcement and the Black community. Torn between loyalty to where he was raised and his allegiance to his brothers in blue, Hondo has to step up and be the leader that can bridge the divide between his two worlds. Alongside Moore, the series stars Alex Russell as Street, Lina Esco as Alonso, Kenny Johnson as Luca, Jay Harrington as Deacon and David Lim as Tan.
A reimagining of the classic series, ‘MacGyver’ follows 20-something Angus “Mac” MacGyver (Lucas Till), who creates a clandestine organization within the U.S. government where he uses his extraordinary talent for unconventional problem solving and vast scientific knowledge to save lives.
The 5th Season sees Mac and the team attempt to destroy the Codex crime syndicate once and for all, launch a daring rescue effort for a woman holing up in an infamous criminal hideout, and try and track down the killer of a fallen friend. Alongside Till, the series stars Henry Ian Cusick as Russ, Tristin Mays as Riley, Justin Hires as Bozer, Meredith Eaton as Matty and Levy Tran as Desi.
Whilst ‘SWAT’ was renewed back in April for a 5th Season, US network CBS opted to cancel ‘MacGyver’ after 5 seasons, much to the annoyance of its dedicated fanbase. The #SaveMacGyver campaign currently has over 25k signatures on the petition and has sent over 1.35M paperclips to CBS to voice their displeasure at the cancellation, along with funding 5 billboards in 4 U.S cities. They are not going down without a fight!
‘MacGyver‘ Season 5 premieres Sunday, 30th May 2021 at 9pm on Sky One in the UK, followed by ‘S.W.A.T.‘ Season 4 at 10pm. They will be followed at 11pm by the finale of ‘NCIS: LA‘.
