‘Party Of Five’: All4 Picks Up Single Season Of Reboot Drama To Premiere In June

All4 has picked up the single season of Party Of Five, Freeform’s 2020 reboot of the classic 90s drama, which was cancelled after one season.

The new take on the show comes from original creators Christopher Keyser and Amy Lippman, who wrote the show with Michal Zebede (‘Castle’). Where the original version followed five siblings who were left orphaned when a drunk driver killed their parents, this new iteration of adds a timely and modern immigration twist. It following the five Acosta children as they struggle to survive together as a family after their parents are deported to Mexico.

The series stars Brandon Larracuente (’13 Reasons Why’) as Emilio, Emily Tosta (‘Mayans M.C.’) as Lucia, Niko Guardado as Beto (‘The Goldbergs’) and Elle Paris Legaspi (‘Animal Kingdom’, ‘Vida’) as Valentina. Keyser, Lippman and Zebede exec produce with Rodrigo Garcia (‘Nine Lives’) directing and also exec producing. Sony Pictures TV serve as the studio.

The original series ran for 6 seasons from 1994 to 2000 and starred Scott Wolf, Matthew Fox, Neve Campbell, and Lacey Chabert. In 1996 it picked up a Golden Globe for best television drama and spawned the short-lived spin-off series ‘Time of Your Life’, which saw Jennifer Love Hewitt reprise her guest role as Sarah, on/off girlfriend to Scott Wolf’s character, Bailey.

All episodes of ‘Party Of Five‘ premiere Friday, 25th June 2021 on All4 in the UK. As I mentioned at the top of the article, the series was cancelled after one season, but it’s there for those who are curious.
