‘Hawkeye’ Series Gets November Premiere Date On Disney+

Disney+ has set a November premiere date for Hawkeye, the MCU series which sees Jeremy Renner return to the arrow-slinging role.

As is normal at this point in proceedings, Marvel has yet to release an official synopsis for the series, but we do have a few bits of information about what is to come. We know the series will obviously feature Renner returning as Clint Barton, and also his protégé Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld (‘Dickinson’). In the comics, Bishop takes over the mantle of Hawkeye when Barton is presumed dead and goes on to become a member of the Young Avengers.

From some of the on-set photos the cast has shared, it seems the series may cover some of Barton’s time during “the blip” when he ditched the Hawkeye persona to become the rather more violent vigilante Ronin. It also looks like SHIELD may be returning to the MCU, after Renner posted an on-set photo of his quiver which had the very distinct SHIELD logo imprinted on it, although it is possible that is from a flashback sequence.

If you’ve seen the film ‘Black Widow’, you also know that Florence Pugh is set to appear in her role as Yelena Belova. Not to give too much away, but she has been led to believe Barton is responsible for the death of her sister Natasha Romanoff, and is out for revenge.

Other cast believed to be involved include newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez/Echo, as deaf Native American who can perfectly copy another person’s movements; Zahn McClarnon (‘Longmire’, ‘Fargo’) as Maya’s father, William; Vera Farmiga (‘Bates Motel’, ‘When They See Us’) as Eleanor, Kate’s mother; Fra Fee (‘Les Misérables’) as Kazi (rumoured to be Marvel villain Clown); And Brian d’Arcy James (’13 Reasons Why’, ‘Spotlight’) portrayed a yet-to-be-confirmed character.

The next MCU project to drop will be the animated alt-history seriesWhat If…?’ on Wednesday, 11th August 2021. That’s now followed this year by the live-action shows‘Hawkeye’ in November and Ms. Marvel’ in late 2021. ‘She-Hulk’ is set to land in 2022, followed (in no particular order) by Secret Invasion, Ironheart, ‘Armor Wars’, and a currently untitled series set in Wakanda.

Hawkeye‘ premieres Wednesday, 24th November 2021 on Disney+ UK and worldwide.
