Peacock Orders ‘Field of Dreams’ Series From ‘The Good Place’s Michael Schur

Streaming service Peacock (soon to arrive in the UK), has handed a straight-to-series order to Field of Dreams series, based on the beloved 1989 movie.

The series will be based on Universal Pictures’ Academy Award-nominated film and reimagines the mixture of family, baseball, Iowa and magic that makes the movie so enduring and beloved. Michael Schur, the man behind the utterly wonderful ‘The Good Place’, and co-creator of ‘Parks and Recreation’, is set to write and exec produce the series.

“Through the years, ‘Field of Dreams’ has remained a fan favourite, maintaining its rightful position in the zeitgeist,” commented Lisa Katz, President, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “It’s whimsical and grounded, a space where Mike Schur excels, and we’re looking forward to bringing a new version of this classic to Peacock.”

The series will be executive produced by Schur (Fremulon), alongside Lawrence Gordon (The Gordon Company), David Miner and Morgan Sackett. Schur will also write the series. This marks Schur’s second project for Peacock as it joins critically acclaimed comedy Rutherford Falls, which was recently picked up for a second season.

‘Field of Dreams’ is an iconic Universal Film title from venerable producers Lawrence and Charles Gordon, that we could only have entrusted to Mike Schur,” adds Erin Underhill, President, Universal Television. “His talent, his love for baseball and his reverence for its themes make him the perfect choice to revisit this beloved film that evokes nostalgia and visceral emotion in so many of its fans.”

Peacock is set to launch later this year in the UK on Sky Q and NOW. Ad-supported Peacock programming will be available to all Sky TV customers at no additional cost, bundled as part of the entertainment membership on NOW. The service will include a wide array of content with Peacock Originals as well as NBCUniversal’s iconic library of series and movies including ‘The Office’, ‘Rutherford Falls’, ‘Saved by the Bell’, ‘Equalizer’, ‘Young Rock’, ‘Kardashians’, ‘Suits’, ‘Downton Abbey’, and more.

‘Field of Dreams’ is the latest collaboration between NBCUniversal’s television and film studios, with the most recent being a series adaptation of Universal Picture’s hit comedy ‘Ted’ announced earlier this year. The live-action series, from executive producer Seth MacFarlane, is also set for Peacock.

Field of Dreams‘ does not yet have a premiere date, but will air on Peacock in the UK and USA. If you want to track this show, you can add it via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
