‘For Life’ Season 2 Gets Sept UK Premiere On Sky Witness & NOW

Sky Witness & NOW have set a September UK premiere date for the 2nd, and sadly, final season of For Life the broadcaster has announced.

Inspired by the life of Isaac Wright Jr., ‘For Life’ is a fictional serialized legal and family drama about a former prisoner, Aaron Wallace (Nicholas Pinnock – ‘Marcella’, ‘Counterpart’), who became a lawyer litigating cases for other inmates while fighting to overturn his own life sentence for a crime he didn’t commit.

Wallace’s fight continues in Season 2, as the wrongfully convicted prisoner-turned-litigator and social crusader embarks on a more personal journey. Aaron is motivated by the hope of being reunited with his family and reclaiming a life of freedom to take up the mantle against systemic injustice from outside the prison walls.

With continued help from the people who supported him – his family, a wily one-time public defender, Henry Roswell, and his former prison warden, Safiya Masry – Aaron continues his battle against the very political machine that once put him away, undeservedly. The series continues to shine an unrelenting light upon the institutional wrongs of our penal and legal systems.

‘For Life’ stars Nicholas Pinnock as Aaron Wallace, Indira Varma as Safiya Masry, Joy Bryant as Marie Wallace, Dorian Missick as Jamal Bishop, Tyla Harris as Jasmine Wallace and Timothy Busfield as Henry Roswell.

ABC opted to cancel the drama after two seasons, due to its live ratings not being anywhere near what they needed to be. However, star Nicholas Pinnock doesn’t hold a grudge against the network, commenting “I am in no way bitter with ABC for not renewing For Life for a third season. ABC was nothing but supportive of our show, and has championed it from the start.” He continues “Sadly, the live audience numbers didn’t reflect and equal the social media attention… The catch-up numbers were really good, but that doesn’t fit the model of a network show.”

There was initially a slight glimmer of hope when Amazon’s IMDb TV picked up the first two seasons to run on the free US streaming service, which it was hoped may have led to a third season. Unfortunately, it was confirmed earlier this week that IMDb TV had opted to pass on any further pick-up, meaning the show is now definitely dead.

Hank Steinberg is the creator and executive producer; Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson via G-Unit Film & Television, Doug Robinson and Alison Greenspan of Doug Robinson Productions, Isaac Wright Jr. and Russell Fine are executive producers. ‘For Life’ is a co-production of Sony Pictures Television Inc. and ABC Signature. ABC Signature is a part of Disney Television Studios, alongside 20th Television and Touchstone Television.

For Life‘ Season 2 premieres Monday, 27th September 2021 on Sky Witness and the NOW streaming service in the UK.
