‘Silent Witness’: Genesis Lynea Joins The Team This Season as Simone Tyler
‘Silent Witness‘ is set to have another new face this season as the BBC announce Genesis Lynea will join the hugely popular drama as Simone Tyler.
‘Silent Witness’ follows Dr Nikki Alexander (Emilia Fox) and her team of forensic pathologists as they delve in to solve various criminal cases. The cases that end up at The Lyell Centre are rarely straightforward. Initial suspicions are challenged as the evidence mounts, and Nikki and the team must work harder than ever to find the truth.
The 23rd Season came to an explosive conclusion in February 2020, (SPOILER WARNING!) leaving a shocked audience with the departure of two of the series regular characters: Clarissa Mullery (Liz Carr) and Dr Thomas Chamberlain (Richard Lintern). The 24th Season sees Dr Nikki Alexander and Jack Hodgson (David Caves) looking forward to the future. However buried secrets and memories soon surface, and, when ghosts from the past emerge, the two are forced increasingly close to one another.
Genesis Lynea will play Forensic Ecologist, Simone Tyler, who is is asked by Alexander and Hodgson to help solve a murder. However, she questions whether her skills are the right match for The Lyell Centre. Simone feels more comfortable in the safety of an academic lab reconstructing ancient habitats, but her unique skills and lively personality could be exactly what the team needs.
“Simone Tyler is a zealous and meticulous ecologist who is making a massive jump from museum to the mortuary,” commented Lynea on her new role. “It’s been a lovely surprise to film a project during such a testing time, with so much to learn and sink my teeth into. It’s really fulfilling to learn a new way of thinking and seeing through the eyes of Simone – as she learns, I learn. The science of forensics is very intricate work and it’s been fun to play alongside the Silent Witness team. Watch this space!”
Genesis Lynea is probably best known for her role as Archie Hudson in the BBC drama ‘Casualty’. She has also appeared in Netflix’s ‘Shadow and Bone’, and children’s dramedy ‘4 O’Clock Club’.
“It is a delight to welcome Genesis and integrate a new forensic specialism to Silent Witness,” adds Lawrence Till, Executive Producer, BBC Studios Production. “Forensic Ecology is the analysis of human remains, bugs, plants, soil samples and other particulates from crime scenes and is vital in proving the presence of a body and its deposition to establish a time and place of death. It is a great addition to the pathology carried out by Nikki Alexander and Forensic Science executed by Jack Hodgson. Genesis brings tremendous energy and enthusiasm to Silent Witness and plays Simone with a great sense of fun. I’m confident she will quickly become a much-loved addition to the team.”
Lynea is not the only new face this season. As previously announced, Jason Wong (‘The Gentlemen’, ‘Missing’) also joined the team as Adam Yuen, a confident, bright and keen pathologist who’s constantly striving to be the best, but immediately rubbed Nikki and Jack up the wrong way.
