‘Teen Wolf’ Revival Movie Ordered By Paramount+

Paramount+ ordered three new projects under an overall deal with Teen Wolf showrunner/developer Jeff Davis – a ‘Teen Wolf’ revival film with some of the original cast; A ‘Wolf Pack’ series based on Edo Van Belkom’s novels; Davis will also helm the pilot of the previously announced live-action ‘Æon Flux’ series for the streaming service.

The ‘Teen Wolf’ revival movie sees a full moon rise in Beacon Hills, and with it, a terrifying evil has emerged. The wolves are howling once again, calling for the return of Banshees, Werecoyotes, Hellhounds, Kitsunes, and every other shapeshifter in the night. But only a Werewolf like Scott McCall (Tyler Posey), no longer a teenager yet still an Alpha, can gather both new allies and reunite trusted friends to fight back against what could be the most powerful and deadliest enemy they’ve ever faced.

Tyler Posey’s Scott McCall is the only character name-checked in the press release, but talks are underway with the original cast, so expect more people to be announced in due course.

‘Wolf Pack’ is based on the book series by Edo Van Belkom, and follows a teenage boy and girl whose lives are changed forever when a California wildfire awakens a terrifying supernatural creature and drives it to attack a highway traffic jam beneath the burning hills. Wounded in the chaos, the boy and girl are inexplicably drawn to each other and to two other teenagers who were adopted sixteen years earlier by a park ranger after another mysterious wildfire. As the full moon rises, all four teens come together to unravel the secret that connects them – the bite and blood of a werewolf.

‘Æon Flux’ returns as a reimagined live-action series. Set in a post-apocalyptic near future where countries no longer exist, reduced to Spartan-like city-states locked in perpetual war, where children are turned into lethal soldiers and every citizen carries a gun, one young woman rises up to rebel against her Orwellian government as she becomes the hero known as ÆON FLUX. Gale Anne Hurd serves as Executive Producer for Valhalla Entertainment.

Davis’ new overall deal is actually ViacomCBS’s MTV Entertainment Studios, but all three projects are set to land on Paramount+. MTV ran the original ‘Teen Wolf’ series from 2011-17, along with the ‘Æon Flux’ anime series from 1991-95. Under the deal, Davis will write the ‘Teen Wolf’ movie sequel, serve as showrunner on ‘Wolf Pack’, and showrunner and director for the pilot for ‘Æon Flux’.

As was announced last month, Paramount+ is set to launch in 2022 across the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The service will be free to Sky Cinema subscribers and available as an app to every Sky Q customer (with an additional fee.) It will also be available directly through the app for iOS and Android and across supported connected TV devices and many of the other platforms where you usually get your tv apps. Exact details and pricing to be confirmed.
