‘Stay Close’: December Premiere & First Look Images For Harlan Coben Drama On Netflix Starring Cush Jumbo, James Nesbitt & Richard Armitage

Netflix has released some “first look” images and announced a December premiere for their latest adaptation of a Harlan Coben novel, Stay Close, starring Cush Jumbo, James Nesbitt, and Richard Armitage.

With trademark thrills, gripping suspense, and a crime to solve, ‘Stay Close’ questions how much you really know someone. Three people living comfortable lives each conceal dark secrets that even the closest to them would never suspect; Megan (Jumbo), a working mother of three; Ray (Armitage), the once-promising documentary photographer, now stuck in a dead-end job pandering to celebrity-obsessed rich kids, and Broome (Nesbitt), a detective who’s unable to let go of a missing person’s cold case. As the past comes back to haunt them, threatening to ruin their lives and the lives of those around them, what will be their next move?

Jumbo, Nesbitt and Armitage are joined in the cast by Eddie Izzard, who takes on the role of Harry – a small-town lawyer and defender of the disenfranchised residents of Livingstone – who has been like a father figure to Megan over the years; Jo Joyner (‘Ackley Bridge’, ‘Ordinary Lies’) is Erin Cartwright, a quick-witted, highly observant Police Detective and Broome’s ex-wife; Daniel Francis (‘Small Axe’, ‘Once Upon A Time’) will play Dave Shaw, a doting father to his three children and engaged to Megan; Andi Osho (‘Line of Duty’) is cast as Simona, a retired ex-army sergeant who’s now pregnant with her first child; Bethany Antonia (‘Get Even’) plays Megan and Dave’s eldest daughter Kayleigh Shaw; And Rachel Andrews (‘Butcher Boy’) is Bea, Kayleigh’s best friend – they are each other’s greatest ally, co-conspirator and support mechanism; Also joining the cast is seemingly sweet young couple Poppy Gilbert (‘The Pale Horse’, ‘Call the Midwife’) as Barbie and Hyoie O’Grady as Ken.

Nicola Shindler, Harlan Coben, Danny Brocklehurst, Richard Fee and Netflix, the team behind smash hit ‘The Stranger’ (which also starred Richard Armitage) collaborate on their fourth drama. The series is based on Harlan Coben’s #1 New York Times bestselling novel of the same name. ‘Stay Close’ is the latest Netflix project for Harlan Coben, as part of his current five-year deal with the streamer to develop 14 of his titles into film and TV dramas, which includes Polish original ‘The Woods’, Spanish original ‘The Innocent’ starring Mario Casas and directed by Oriol Paulo, the film ‘Six Years’, written and directed by David Ayer, and ‘Gone for Good’.

‘Stay Close’ is a RED Production Company (a STUDIOCANAL company) production commissioned for Netflix. The series is written by Danny Brocklehurst (‘Brassic’, ‘Come Home’), Mick Ford (‘The Stranger’, ‘Safe’, ‘The Five’), Victoria Asare-Archer (‘Death in Paradise’) and Charlotte Coben (‘The Stranger’). The executive producers are Nicola Shindler (‘Finding Alice’, ‘Happy Valley’, ‘It’s A Sin’), Coben and  Brocklehurst, and Richard Fee (‘The Stranger’, ‘Prey’). Juliet Charlesworth (‘Happy Valley’, ‘Traces’) is series producer and Daniel O’Hara (‘The Stranger’, ‘Brassic’) is lead director and an executive producer. Sheila Nortley produces with Lindy Heymann (‘The Worst Witch’) as director for block two.

Stay Close‘ premieres Friday, 31st December 2021 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
