Agatha ‘WandaVision’ Spin-Off In Development At Disney+

WandaVision could be getting a spin-off that will not feature Wanda or Vision, but focus on busybody neighbour, Agnes… Because that’s all she is… A neighbour… Nothing else to see here folks… Nope… Nothing at all!

Of course, if you’ve seen ‘WandaVision’ (as I’m sure most of you have by now!) you’ll know that is not true. Whilst Kathryn Hahn’s Agnes was introduced as the nosey neighbour popping in and out of Wanda and Vision’s home, she was, in fact, something much more sinister.

The later episodes revealed, with a wonderful musical interlude, that the weird and wonderful events of the series had been, in part, orchestrated by Agnes, aka “Agatha All Along”. The neighbour actually being the powerful witch, Agatha Harkness, who had been manipulating various things throughout the story in an attempt to steal Wanda’s magic. Wanda ultimately defeats Agatha, imprisoning her in Westview as the sitcom character she chose for herself, “Agnes.”

Exact details on the series are being kept under wraps, because… Marvel… But it would obviously see Kathryn Hahn reprise her role as Agnes/Agatha. The series is described as a “dark comedy”, and would be written by ‘WandaVision’ head writer Jac Schaeffer, who would also exec produce. Whilst we don’t know the actual plot, I can see some interesting potential here. Imagine a show that could be some sort of dark twisted version of ‘Bewitched’, as Agnes starts to realise she isn’t a small-town resident as her power begins to creep back, and she discovers what was done to her. Whether it ends up being that, or something else entirely, we’ll have to wait and see.

‘WandaVision’ ended up being the first tv show set in the MCU (pre-COVID, it was supposed to be ‘Falcon and Winter Soldier’) and kicked everything off to a wonderfully surreal start! The series amassed 23 Emmy nominations, including a Best Supporting Actress nod for Kathryn Hahn. It ended up winning two awards, one for Production Design, and the other for “Agatha All Along”, the original song used in the characters reveal. The series also won four MTV Movie & TV Awards, with Hahn taking “Best Villian”, and she also picked up a Best Supporting Actress Award from the Hollywood Critics Association.

Hahn herself has been keeping busy, and is next due to appear as Joan Rivers in a limited series for Showtime about the famed comedian’s life. She is also set to appear in the Apple TV+ series ‘The Shrink Next Door’ with Will Ferrell and fellow MCU star Paul Rudd, along with the Rian Johnson sequel movie ‘Knives Out 2’.

The WandaVision spin-off is classed as “in development” right now and has not been officially confirmed by Disney+, but we’ll let you know when we hear more.
