‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Gets First Trailer, Premiering May On Disney+

by Dave Elliott

It’s time to say “hello there” to Obi-Wan Kenobi, as Disney+ drops the first teaser trailer for the highly-anticipated limited Star Wars series, which launches exclusively on the streaming service from 25th May 2022.

The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

The series stars Ewan McGregor, reprising his role as the iconic Jedi Master, and also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader. They are joined by Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse who reprise their prequel trilogy roles as Owen Lars and Aunt Beru. Cast for the series includes Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Rupert Friend (Homeland), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), Sung Kang (Power), Simone Kessell (The Crossing), Maya Erskine (PEN15), O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Benny Safdie.

Those of you who are familiar with ‘The Clone Wars’ animated series might have noticed in the trailer the live-action introduction of the Empire’s dastardly Jedi hunters, the Inquisitors, and their leader The Grand Inquisitor, along with their rather unique spinning lightsabers! One of those is the force-sensitive Inquisitor Reva, played by Moses Ingram (‘The Queen’s Gambit’.)

‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ is directed by Deborah Chow and executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor and Joby Harold.

Obi-Wan Kenobi‘ premieres Wednesday, 25th May 2022 on Disney+ worldwide.
