Disney+ has released a trailer and June premiere date for their next superhero show (following ‘Moon Knight’) which introduces the world to ‘Ms. Marvel‘.
Marvel Studios’ ‘Ms. Marvel’ is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega-fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets superpowers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with superpowers, right?
Iman Vellani stars in the title role as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel. The cast also includes Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer and Nimra Bucha.
Episodes are directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and Bisha K. Ali are the executive producers. Co-executive producers for the series are Sana Amanat and Trevor Waterson, and Bisha K. Ali is the head writer.
‘Ms. Marvel’ is one of a number of upcoming Marvel shows which introduce new characters to the MCU. ‘Moon Knight’ is the first new Marvel solo character to have his introduction on Wednesday, 30th March 2022, followed by ‘Ms. Marvel’ in June. Then, coming later in 2022, are ‘She-Hulk’, played by the amazing Tatiana Maslany, and ‘Secret Invasion’, which sees Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn and Cobie Smulders reprise their MCU roles as Nick Fury, Talos and Maria Hill. The year will end with the much anticipated ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special’. At some point after that, we also have the ‘Ironheart’ series, ‘Armor Wars’, and the, currently untitled, Wakanda series.
‘Ms. Marvel‘ premieres Wednesday, 8th June 2022 on Disney+ UK and worldwide.
