‘Resident Evil’: Live-Action Series Gets July Premiere Date On Netflix

Netflix has set a July premiere date for their live-action series based on the popular Resident Evil gaming franchise, the streaming service has announced.

The year is 2036, 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.

The eight-episode stars Lance Reddick (‘Bosch’, ‘American Horror Story’) as Albert Wesker alongside Ella Balinska (‘The Athena’), Tamara Smart (‘The Worst Witch’), Siena Agudong (‘No Good Nick’), Adeline Rudolph (‘Riverdale’) and Paola Nuñez (‘The Purge’). Additional cast members are Ahad Raza Mir (‘Ehd-e-Wafa’), Connor Gossatti (‘3rd Night’) and Turlough Convery (‘Killing Eve’, ‘Sanditon’, ‘Poldark’).

Andrew Dabb (‘Supernatural’) is the creator and serves as showrunner on the drama. Dabb also executive produces and writes the series alongside Mary Leah Sutton (‘Tell Me a Story’, ‘The Following’). Constantin Film serves as the studio with also Robert Kulzer and Oliver Berben exec producing. Constantin Film CEO Martin Moszkowicz produces.

Resident Evil‘ premieres Thursday, 14th July 2022 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
