‘The Witcher’ Season 3 Gets Plot Summary As Production Begins
Netflix has released a plot summary for Season 3 of ‘The Witcher‘ as the fantasy drama begins shooting its next chapter.
Based on the best-selling fantasy series of books, ‘The Witcher’ is an epic tale of fate and family. The story of the intertwined destinies of three individuals in the vast world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive, and where good and evil is not easily identified.
Season 2 began with Geralt of Rivia convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden. Our Witcher hero brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he found himself needing to protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.
In Season 3, as monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusting with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers… Instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever.
The series stars Henry Cavill as Geralt, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, and Freya Allan as Ciri. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich returns as showrunner/exec producer. Tomek Baginski, Jason F. Brown, Sean Daniel, Mike Ostrowski, Steve Gaub and Jaros?aw Sawko also exec produce.
Whilst the 3rd Season of the main show begins production, we have the spin-off series, ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’, due to drop at some point later this year. The new prequel series set in an elven world 1200 years before the events of ‘The Witcher’. Blood Origin will tell a story lost to time – exploring the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal “Conjunction of the Spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.
