10 Years Since the Last Episode of ‘Desperate Housewives’: How Do the Main Characters of the Series Live Now?

Ever since the first episode premiered in 2004, the world was hooked. Desperate Housewives was the new show everyone was talking about. It showed up at the right time, just when the Sex and the City ended and its fans were looking for something fresh.

The show went on for 8 years, with the last episode shown in 2012.

It may have been 10 years since we last saw the characters of Wisteria Lane, but they are still vivid in fans’ memory. The show is still popular for its “soapy” character and superb acting. The biggest reason why we loved it? It was fun!

Have you ever wondered how their lives and careers went on and where they are today?

Eva Longoria

Although Longoria continued working on her acting career, Gabrielle Solis remained her most famous character. The actress is known for her love for gambling. In 2015, Eva’s production company sold a drama called Casino to NBC. There were plans about her and Victoria Beckham planning to become casino owners, but they weren’t realized. Together with her ex-husband Tony Parker, Eva hosted an annual Celebrity Casino Night in Texas. This poker tournament is still active, and it involves Hollywood stars, social activists, and businessmen. The rumors about Longoria investing in new online casinos were never confirmed, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see her passion for gambling evolve in that direction.

In the meantime, Longoria is mostly focused on her production company. She divorced Tony Parker in 2011 and married Jose Baston in 2016.

Marcia Cross

Bree Van de Kamp was one of the most hated and most beloved characters at the same time. Marcia Cross continued building her acting resume after the show. She was particularly striking in The Edge of Sleep, a TV series from 2019.

In 2017, Marcia was diagnosed with anal cancer. She recovered and is in remission since 2018. She’s been very open about her battle with cancer, especially because it’s a type no one ever talks about. She was featured in a TV special called Stand Up to Cancer in 2021.

Felicity Huffman

Lynette was a power-woman character, and her fans can hardly imagine Felicity Huffman in a different type of role. In 2019, she made headlines not because of her acting, but because of a scandal associated with college admissions. She paid $15,000 as a purported charitable contribution for her oldest daughter to become part of a cheating scheme for college entrance exams. According to the documents that served as evidence, her daughter’s SAT score went up 400 points as a result of the scheme. Felicity was sentenced to two weeks in prison and 250 hours of community service.

Fans haven’t seen the actress on the screen since 2019, when she portrayed Tammy MacDonald in Tammy’s Always Dying.

Teri Hatcher

Teri already had a successful career before Desperate Housewives, but Susan Mayer became her most recognizable role. Her awkwardness and her on-and-off romance with Mike Delfino made Susan the most likeable character of the show in all seasons. She hasn’t been too active in the world of TV and cinema after the show ended. She was the voice actress behind Dottie of Planes in 2013 and 2014. In 2019, she appeared in Madness in the Method.

Teri started her own YouTube channel in 2018. It’s called Hatching Change. She invites guests for a ride in her van, and they have nice talks on different subjects.

Nicollette Sheridan

Edie Britt’s sparkling personality added freshness and wit to the show. Nicollette didn’t leave Desperate Housewives on the best terms. After her character was killed (in a pretty spectacular way), she started a lengthy court case against Marc Cherry, the show’s creator. She accused him of gender violence, assault and battery. She got a decision for a new trial in 2014, but the Los Angeles Court of appeal reversed it.

Sheridan continued developing her career in TV after Desperate Housewives. In 2017, she took the role of Alexis Morell Carrington in The CW remake of Dynasty.

We Still Miss the Show

Desperate Housewives was loved because of the houses, friendships, fashion, and presentation of community. But most of all, fans loved it because it was hilarious. The performances of all female characters were exceptional. This is the best acting we’ve seen on TV.

Some of the stars stayed active on their acting career path after the last episode, but a few went idle. Now that we got reminders, it would be a good idea to start watching the show once again.

All 8 Seasons of ‘Desperate Housewives’ can be found on Disney+ UK.
