It’s been a long time coming (three years in fact), but ‘Atlanta‘ is finally set to return for Season 3 this June on Disney+ in the UK.
‘Atlanta’ is created by Donald Glover, and follows two cousins as they work to lift themselves and their families out of poverty. Taking place almost entirely in Europe, Season 3 finds “Earn” (Donald Glover), “Alfred / ‘Paper Boi'” (Brian Tyree Henry), “Darius” (LaKeith Stanfield) and “Van” (Zazie Beetz) in the midst of a successful European tour, as the group navigates their new surroundings as outsiders, and struggle to adjust to the newfound success they had aspired to.
In its most recent season in 2018, the 14 Emmy nominations for Atlanta Robbin Season’ were the most of any comedy series. Through its first two seasons, Atlanta won 5 Emmy Awards, 2 Golden Globes, and 2 AFI awards, along with a Peabody, PGA, WGA, TCA, NAACP and Critics’ Choice Awards.
The series has been renewed for a fourth and final season, which is set to premiere in the USA in Autumn 2022. Whilst the pandemic obviously got in the way of filming season three, Glover’s hectic schedule had already delayed filming, hence the three-year break. Thankfully, that won’t be an issue for season four, as they sensibly shot both seasons back-to-back, making sure it was in the can before Glover had to move on to his next project.
Atlanta is executive produced by Donald Glover, Stephen Glover, Hiro Murai, Stefani Robinson, Paul Simms and Dianne McGunigle. Atlanta is produced by FX Productions.
‘Atlanta‘ Season 3 premieres Wednesday, 29th June 2022 on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland.
