HBO Max Orders Kite Man Series Spin-Off From ‘Harley Quinn’ Animated Series
HBO Max has ordered a spin-off from the brilliant ‘Harley Quinn‘ animated series which will follow Kite Man in his own show!
Currently under the working title of “Noonan’s”, the spin-off follows lovable loser Kite Man and his new squeeze Golden Glider, who moonlight as criminals to support their foolish purchase of Noonan’s, Gotham’s seediest dive bar, where everybody knows your name, but not necessarily your secret identity!
The series will see Matt Oberg return to voice Kite Man, and is executive produced by Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, Sam Register, Dean Lorey, and Kaley Cuoco. Dean Lorey serves as showrunner.
“We love the wild and fun world of ‘Harley Quinn’ so much we just had to make a spin-off and who better to centre it around than the outcast Kite Man,” said Suzanna Makkos, Executive Vice President, Original Comedy and Adult Animation, HBO Max and Adult Swim. “Justin, Patrick, and Dean have created the perfect local hangout for Gotham City’s not-so-finest at Noonan’s, where bar patrons can blow off steam after a long day of mayhem.”
In the main show, Kite Man had been dating Poison Ivy, however, the events of season two saw Ivy realise that her relationship with Harley was a little more than just BFFs. This results in Kite Man breaking up with her on their wedding day (which also turned into an all-out war between the villains and the GCPD…)
“‘Harley Quinn’ unlocked a world of hilarious possibilities with the iconic superheroes and supervillains of the DC Universe,” adds Peter Girardi, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, Warner Bros. Animation. “Exploring this world further with our partners at HBO Max and DC is going to be a lot of fun. Plus, after getting dumped by Poison Ivy, the least we could do was give Kite Man his own show.”
Based on the characters from DC, “Noonan’s” (w/t) is produced by Delicious Non-Sequitur and Yes, Norman Productions in association with Warner Bros. Animation.
‘Harley Quinn‘ Seasons 1 and 2 aired on E4 in the UK and HBO Max in the USA. A third season has been ordered and is due to air Summer 2022 in America.
