‘CSI: Vegas’: Alibi Announces July UK Premiere Date For Sequel Series

UKTV’s Alibi channel has announced the July air date for CSI: Vegas‘ Season 1, the long-awaited sequel series, which finally premieres in the UK.

The latest CSI series opens a brand new chapter in Las Vegas, the city where it all began. Facing an existential threat that could bring down the entire Crime Lab and release thousands of convicted killers back onto the neon-lit streets of Vegas, a brilliant new team of investigators led by Maxine Roby (Paula Newsome) alongside Allie Rajan (Mandeep Dhillon) and Josh Folsom (Matt Lauria) must enlist the help of old friends, Gil Grissom (William Petersen), Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox), David Hodges (Wallace Langham), and Jim Brass (Paul Guilfoyle). This combined force will deploy the latest forensic techniques to do what they do best – follow the evidence – in order to preserve and serve justice in Sin City.

‘CSI: Vegas’ was originally pitched as an event series to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the show back in 2020… then the pandemic hit, which rather changed plans. As momentum and excitement grew for the return of the CSI franchise, CBS started to consider the possibility of continuing it as an ongoing series instead. The show was officially picked up for a second season in December 2021, however, original stars William Petersen and Jorja Fox won’t be returning. Petersen was only signed for the one season, but will remain exec producer, whilst Fox could have continued but decided it didn’t feel right to split up Grissom and Sidle again. On a more positive note, Marg Helgenberger has signed on for season two, reprising her original ‘CSI’ role as Catherine Willows, so there will still be some OG cast members around.

The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Television and was licensed by UKTV from Paramount Global Content Distribution by Melanie Rumani, global head of acquisitions at BBC Studios. So for those of you worrying that everything “Paramount made” would vanish onto Paramount+, that doesn’t seem to be the case. They are still selling some shows to other broadcasters, which makes perfect sense, as a large portion of the revenue for CBS is international sales.

CSI: Vegas‘ premieres Wednesday, 13th July 2022 at 9pm on Alibi in the UK. On a side note, for those of you with the NOW streaming service, Alibi will be finally added to the system from the 28th of June 2022, meaning you’ll be able to enjoy the show as well when it lands.
