The Most Filmed Location in the US

There are so many films set in the US, and it feels pretty safe to say that it makes more movies than anywhere else in the world. Because of this, there are certain spots that directors love to capture in their films, and today we’ll share which is the top filming location, as well as some other iconic places frequently featured in cinema.

We all love TV and cinema, and whether you’re a rom-com fan, a slasher fan, or someone who enjoys TV shows inspired by Jersey Shore, we’ve got you with these super interesting locations.

So, where is THE most filmed place in the US?

It might not come as much of a surprise, but Central Park in New York City is the most filmed location in the US, and what’s more, it’s also the most filmed location in the entire world, with over 350 movies being filmed in just the park alone. It’s easy to see why as it is one of the most visited locations in the world and a must-visit for any tourist visiting the city.

Some of the most famous films that have been shot in Central Park include Home Alone 2, When Harry Met Sally, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and many more. It’s a place that will continue to be popular with filmmakers for years to come. It’s iconic, and while it’s not cheap to film a full-budget movie there, it’s been shown that movies that film there earn big money at the box office. It’s purely coincidental but still interesting.

Other famous US movie locations

There are many other famous filming locations in the US that movie studios love to feature in their movies and below we’ll explore these alternative locations. Next time you watch a movie, keep an eye out for them.

Times Square

Times Square is probably one of the most easily recognizable locations in New York City and has been used as a filming location for many huge blockbusters. Not only this, it’s super popular for tourists and while it’s also a living, breathing place where many thousands live and work, it’s much more of a tourist attraction nowadays.

It’d be impossible to say how many movies have at least featured Times Square but there are many. These include, but are not limited to, Spider-Man, Men in Black 3, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, I Am Legend, and even King Kong! It’s definitely a popular spot with filmmakers as it captures the hustle and bustle of New York City perfectly.

The Empire State Building

The Empire State Building is another hugely popular landmark in New York City that has been featured in many films over the years. It was actually named one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World back in 1986 and some of the movies you might have seen it crop up include Sleepless in Seattle, Independence Day, and Elf.

It’s an impressive building that can be seen from all over NYC so it makes sense that it would make an appearance on the big screen every now and again. Arguably the most famous movie to feature this building is the movie King Kong, both the older version and the newer remake, with the original version having an absolutely iconic scene that’s still known by audiences today.

Hollywood Sign

The Hollywood Sign is one of those things that you just associate with Los Angeles – along with palm trees – so it makes sense that this would be a hugely popular filming location too. After all, LA is known as being THE place to go if you want to make it big in showbiz. A super famous example of a movie filmed here is La La Land, which was absolutely massive when it was released a couple of years ago.

If you’re a fan of horror movies, then you might also have seen the Hollywood Sign crop up in many movies. It’s definitely an instantly recognizable location and one that moviegoers love to see on the big screen. It’s a real cinema staple, and also something that most tourists have on their bucket list when visiting the area.

The White House

Last but not least, we have The White House which is located in Washington D.C. This is another hugely popular filming location that has been used in many different movies over the years, with one of the most famous being Independence Day. Are there many scenes that are more iconic than the aliens vaporizing The White House from above?

Other famous examples include Olympus Has Fallen, Mars Attacks!, and Forrest Gump. It’s definitely a place that oozes power and importance so it’s no surprise that it’s such a popular spot for filmmakers to use when they want to show this off on the big screen. While it is possible that you’ll be able to go inside, you can also get some amazing photos from outside the fences.
