‘Black-ish’: Final 8th Season Gets July UK Premiere On E4

E4 has set a July UK premiere date for the 8th and final season of comedy Black-ish the broadcaster has announced.

‘Black-ish’, follows The Johnsons, an upper-middle-class African-American family led by Andre ‘Dre’ (Anthony Anderson) and Rainbow ‘Bow’ (Tracee Ellis Ross) Johnson. Like any parent, want to give their children the best, but their offspring’s childhood is turning out to be much different than theirs.

It was announced in May last year that the series would be ending with its 8th Season. As we return, Bow convinces Dre to attend a fundraising event to make some new friends, but Dre is convinced there will be nothing but dud husbands there to befriend. But their expectations are far exceeded when the special guest for the evening is Michelle Obama.

The series stars Anthony Anderson as Andre “Dre” Johnson, Tracee Ellis Ross as Rainbow Johnson, Yara Shahidi as Zoey Johnson, Marcus Scribner as Andre Johnson Jr., Miles Brown as Jack Johnson, Marsai Martin as Diane Johnson, Laurence Fishburne as Pops, Jenifer Lewis as Ruby, Peter Mackenzie as Mr. Stevens, Deon Cole as Charlie Telphy and Jeff Meacham as Josh.

Over the course of its run, ‘Black-ish’ has received 15 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Comedy, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy (Anthony Anderson), Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy (Tracee Ellis Ross) and Outstanding Contemporary Costume (Michelle R. Cole and Devon Patterson). The series also received a prestigious Peabody Award in 2016 and the American Film Institute selected the show as one of their Television Honorees for 2015. Tracee Ellis Ross won a Golden Globe Award in 2017 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Comedy.

Black-ish‘ Season 8 premieres Monday, 18th July 2022 at 7.30pm on E4 in the UK. Further episodes will air on weekdays in that same timeslot.
