TV Premiere Highlights Coming To Disney+ UK In August 2022

After a packed couple of months of TV, Disney+ UK is showing no signs of slowing down with some big movie premieres and Original series launches. We return to both Marvel and Star Wars with ‘She-Hulk’ and ‘Andor’, along with Pixar’s ‘Lightyear’ getting a streaming release. We also have the much-anticipated Predator film ‘Prey’ landing on the streaming service along with more content from Disney’s FX and Hulu brands. Here are the highlights from Disney+ UK in August 2022.

Disney+ Originals & UK Exclusive August Highlights

Lightyear – 3rd August 2022

Ever wondered how Andy’s favourite toy came to be? From Disney and Pixar comes an animated sci-fi action-adventure — the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Chris Evans). Lightyear follows the legendary space ranger on an intergalactic mission alongside ambitious recruits Izzy, Mo and Darby, and his robot companion Sox. As this motley crew embark on their toughest assignment yet, they must learn to work as a team to escape the evil Zurg – plus his dutiful robot army who are never far behind.

Prey – 5th August 2022

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, “Prey” is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries. ‘Prey’ is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, and written by Patrick Aison (‘Jack Ryan’, ‘Treadstone’).

Lego Star Wars Summer Vacation – 5th August 2022


The all-new animated special from Lucasfilm and the LEGO Group and the newest entry in the popular signature branded cross-saga storytelling series that began with ‘LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special’ and continued with ‘LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales’.

‘LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation’, which is set shortly after the events of ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’, features the voices of “Weird Al” Yankovic, Yvette Nicole Brown, Kelly Marie Tran, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams, and returning cast members from previous “LEGO Star Wars” specials, and includes “Weird Al’s” new original song, Scarif Beach Party.

Bluey, Season 3 (Part 1) – 10th August 2022

Bluey is a loveable, inexhaustible six-year-old Blue Heeler dog who lives with her Dad, Mum, and four-year-old little sister, Bingo. Bluey’s love of fun brings her family and the whole neighbourhood into a world of daily adventures.

I Am Groot – 10th August 2022

There’s no guarding the galaxy from this mischievous toddler! So get ready as Baby Groot takes centre stage in his very own collection of shorts, exploring his glory days growing up – and getting into trouble – among the stars. ‘I Am Groot’, five original shorts featuring several new and unusual characters, stars everyone’s favourite little tree, Baby Groot, voiced by Vin Diesel who voices Groot in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise.

This Fool – 12th August 2022

Inspired by the life and stand-up of star and co-creator Chris Estrada, ‘This Fool’ is an irreverent, cinematic half-hour comedy set in working-class South Central Los Angeles. The show centres around Julio Lopez, a 30-year-old who still lives at home, has been dating his girlfriend on and off since high school, and finds any excuse to avoid dealing with his own problems. Julio works at Hugs Not Thugs, a gang rehabilitation non-profit, where he butts heads with his older cousin Luis, an ex-gang member who just got out of prison and moved in with Julio and his family.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law – 17th August 2022

In Marvel Studios’ ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’, Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) – an attorney specialising in superhuman-oriented legal cases—must navigate the complicated life of a single, 30-something who also happens to be a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk.

Welcome To Wrexham – 25th August 2022

In 2020, Rob McElhenney (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) teamed up to purchase Wrexham AFC in the hopes of turning the club into an underdog story the whole world could root for. The worry? Rob and Ryan have no experience in football or working with each other. That said, they are serious about their investment in Wrexham, improving the club, and doing right by the townspeople. Founded in 1864, the “Red Dragons” are one of the oldest football teams in the world and currently compete in the National League, the fifth tier of the English football league system. From Hollywood to Wales, the pitch to the locker room, the front office to the pub, Welcome to Wrexham will track Rob and Ryan’s crash course in football club ownership and the inextricably connected fates of a team and a town counting on two actors to bring some serious hope and change to a community that could use it.

Andor – 31st August 2022

The Andor series will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.
