‘Day of the Dead’: Sky Sci-Fi Set August UK Premiere For Zombie Series

Sky Sci-Fi has set an August UK premiere date for the George A. Romero-inspired series ‘Day of the Dead’ the broadcaster has announced.

From Abbott Street Films and Cartel Entertainment (‘Creepshow’), ‘Day of the Dead’ is the intense story of six strangers trying to survive the first 24 hours of an undead invasion. This ode to George A. Romero’s famous flesh-eaters reminds us that sometimes all it takes to bring people together is a horde of hungry zombies trying to rip them apart.

In the opening episodes, the town of Mawinhaken is in for a surprise when the dead start to rise, and an investigation is launched into a fracking operation. Then, Cam and Lauren must find a way out of the morgue’s basement. Trey makes a mistake, and an arrival holds the power to rescue McDermott.

The series stars Daniel Doheny (‘Alex Strangelove’, ‘Brand New Cherry Flavor’) as Luke Bowman, Keenan Tracey (‘Debris’, ‘iZombie’, ‘Bates Motel’) as Cam McDermott, Kristy Dinsmore (‘Vikings’) as Amy, Morgan Holmstrom (‘I Still See You’) as Sarah Blackwood and Natalie Malaika (‘The Sinners’) as Lauren Howell.

This love letter to George A. Romero is written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas (‘The Banana Splits Movie’, ‘Malibu Rescue’), who also serve as showrunners. Steven Kostanski (‘Leprechaun Returns’, ‘The Void’) directed the first four episodes and exec produces. Robert Dudelson, James Dudelson and Jordan Kizwani (HiTide Studios), Stan Spry, Jeff Holland and Drew Brown (Cartel Entertainment), Matt Drake (Abbott Street), Sam DeGange, Todd Masters, Doran Chandler, Dawn Knight, and Devan Towers also exec produce. Dynamic Television is the international distributor.

Day Of The Dead‘ Season 1 premieres Monday, 15th August 2022 at 9pm on Sky Sci-Fi with a double bill.
