‘Based on a True Story’: Kaley Cuoco Joins Peacock’s Dark Comedy Series

With the future of ‘The Flight Attendant’ currently uncertain, Kaley Cuoco has signed up to her next project, Based on a True Story, another dark comedic thriller, this time from the Emmy Award-Nominated Craig Rosenberg.

Inspired by a bizarre true event, ‘Based on a True Story’ is a darkly comedic thriller about a realtor, a plumber and a former tennis star whose lives unexpectedly collide, exposing America’s obsession with true crime, murder… and the slow close toilet seat…

Cuoco will play a married woman named Ava Bartlett, but all other details are being kept under wraps (although Ava is believed to be the realtor character.) The former ‘Big Bang Theory‘ actress earned another Emmy award nomination this year for her performance on season two of HBO Max series ‘The Flight Attendant’. However, when it comes to season three, the actress commented “I think for me, at this moment, the plane has landed.” Whilst she isn’t totally ruling out a new season in the future, it seems ‘The Flight Attendant’ is grounded for the time being.

Craig Rosenberg is set to write, showrun, and executive produce the series. His previous work includes writing/exec producing on ‘Lost’, ‘Preacher’, and ‘The Boys’ which landed him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama Series.

Alongside Rosenberg, Jason Bateman (‘Ozark’, ‘The Outsider’) will executive produce with Michael Costigan for Aggregate Films. Roxie Rodriguez serves as co-executive producer for Aggregate Films. The series will be produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Based on a True Story‘ does not have a premiere date yet, but will premiere on Peacock in the USA. It may or may not air on Peacock UK (US Peacock Original shows seem to have a habit of not always landing on their UK counterpart for some reason!) If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when they get a UK premiere date.
