‘Late Night Mash’ With Rachel Parris Gets September Premiere Date On Dave

Satirical topical comedy series Late Night Mash returns to Dave for its 2nd Season this September, with Rachel Parris taking over as host.

Rachel will be joined by a special guest each week to help make sense of all the things that are happening in the world that probably shouldn’t, as well as all the things that aren’t happening that probably should. Recorded the day before transmission, the series is set to deliver topical insights and parody news reports from the dystopian parallel universe affectionately known as “modern Britain”.

Parris takes over as the main host of the show following Nish Kumar’s decision to leave the series at the end of last season. She previously performed segments on the show, usually explaining specific issues, while hilariously patronising Kumar like a parent placating a small child in the process. The series also features Ellie Taylor and Steve N Allen as two (often bickering) newsreaders, with conservative comedian Geoff Norcott ofter making appearances.

“I‘m very excited and honoured to be taking the helm of Late Night Mash, a show I would honestly describe as ‘funny’,” commented Parris when it was announced she would be taking the hosting gig. “I’m excited partly because of the significance of being a female host on a satirical show on British TV, and partly because after five years, it’ll be nice to have a sit-down. I’ll really miss working with my good friend Nish and giving him words of encouragement. I think he did really well and it will stand him in good stead to start his comedy career. Mash, like a proverbial rash, keeps coming back just when you think we’re gone, and I’m proud to represent that irritation. Mash forever!”

‘Late Night Mash’ is commissioned for UKTV by Mark Iddon, commissioning editor, and Iain Coyle, head of comedy entertainment, and ordered by Cherie Cunningham, Dave channel director. Richard Watsham is director of commissioning for UKTV and Steve North is genre general manager, comedy and entertainment. Executive producers for Zeppotron are Ruth Phillips and Peter Holmes. Executive producer of ‘Late Night Mash’ is Chris Stott.

Late Night Mash‘ Season 2 premieres Thursday, 1st September 2022 at 10pm on UKTV’s Dave.
