‘Last King of the Cross’: Sky Picks Up Australian Drama Starring Lincoln Younes, Claude Jabbour & Tim Roth

Sky has picked up the UK broadcast rights to the upcoming Australian drama Last King of the Cross starring Lincoln Younes, Claude Jabbour and Tim Roth the broadcaster has announced.

Based on John Ibrahim’s autobiography of the same name, the series tracks Ibrahim’s rise from a poverty-stricken Lebanese immigrant with no education, no money, and no prospects, to Australia’s most infamous nightclub mogul in Sydney’s Kings Cross. The district is a mini-Atlantic City, barely half a mile long with every form of criminality on display.

Lincoln Younes (‘The Heart Guy’, ‘Grand Hotel’) stars as John Ibrahim, with Tim Roth (‘She-Hulk’, ‘Tin Star’, ‘Lie To Me’) as Ezra Shipman, the kingpin in Sydney’s Kings Cross nightclub district in the 1980s and 1990s. They are joined by Claude Jabbour (‘Stateless’, ‘The Secrets She Keeps’, ‘On the Ropes’) as John’s older brother Sam, alongside Callan Mulvey (‘Mystery Road’, ‘The Luminaries’), Matt Nable (‘Mr Inbetween’, ‘Poker Face’), Justin Rosniak (‘Mr Inbetween’, ‘Home and Away’), Felicity Price (‘Wolf Creek’, ‘Home and Away’), and Maria Tran (‘Tracer’).

The ten-episode drama comes from Kieran Darcy-Smith (‘Wish You Were Here’, ‘Wolf Creek’, ‘Jack Irish’), and is produced by Helium Pictures for Paramount Plus Australia. Sky acquired the series from Cineflix Rights which serves as the exclusive international distribution partner. Mark Fennessy and Karl Zwicky produce.

“Last King Of The Cross is a key launch for us at MIPCOM so I’m thrilled to be closing this pre-sale with Sky,” commented James Durie, head of scripted at Cineflix Rights, adding Sky Atlantic is “the perfect home” for the thriller. “With its setting in the crime-infested, but very sexy district of Kings Cross in 1980/90s Sydney, this series really has standout appeal to international buyers.”

Last King of the Cross‘ does not yet have a UK premiere date but will air on Sky Atlantic. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
