Whip? Check! Nazis? Check! Running away from the aforementioned nazis, and only having a whip to protect himself? Check! Yes, it is the first trailer for the hugely anticipated return of Indy, in ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’!
Harrison Ford returns as the legendary hero archaeologist in the fifth instalment of the iconic “Indiana Jones” franchise, alongside John Rhys-Davies (‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’) as Sallah, and new sidekick Phoebe Waller-Bridge (‘Fleabag’) as Helena, his god-daughter (according to the trailer!)
The trailer really doesn’t give a huge amount away about the plot of the movie, but it has all the Indy action you could want to give you the warm fuzzy feeling of being back in the beloved archaeologist’s presence. There is horse riding, fights on a train, some daring jumping between cars, and Indy making the same old mistake of bringing a whip to a gunfight. There also appears to be some flashback stuff in there, as we see a de-aged Ford as a younger version of Indy. This looks like it’s going to be lots of fun!
Alongside Ford, Waller-Bridge, and Rhys-Davies, the movie stars Shaunette Renee Wilson (“Black Panther”), Thomas Kretschmann (“Das Boot”), Toby Jones (“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”), Boyd Holbrook (“Logan”), Oliver Richters (“Black Widow”), Ethann Isidore (“Mortel”) and Mads Mikkelsen (“Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”).
Directed by James Mangold (“Ford v Ferrari,” “Logan”), the film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel, with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas serving as executive producers. John Williams, who has scored each Indy adventure since the original “Raiders of the Lost Ark” in 1981, is once again composing the score.
‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ hits cinemas from Friday, 30th June 2023.
