Netflix has released the full official trailer for The Witcher: Blood Origin, the four-part live-action limited prequel series due to premiere Christmas Day on the streaming service.

Taking place in the elven Golden Era, 1200 years before the time of Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri, ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’ tells the story of seven strangers who join together to fight an unstoppable empire. Though they hail from warring clans, Éile and Fjall must learn to trust one another if they have any hope of leading this band of outcasts on their quest to topple the Continent’s oppressors. But, when gateways to other worlds are opened and a power-hungry sage unleashes a new weapon, the Seven realize they must create a monster in order to defeat one…

Adding a sensational cast to the Witcher Universe, Sophia Brown (‘Giri/Haji’, ‘The Capture’) and Laurence O’Fuarain (‘Vikings’, ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Into the Badlands’) play Éile and Fjall, the two warriors estranged from their opposing clans; Michelle Yeoh (‘Star Trek: Discovery’, ‘Shang-Chi’) takes the role of Scían, a sword master, the last of her tribe; Mirren Mack (‘Sex Education’) is Princess Merwyn; Lenny Henry (‘Rings Of Power’) plays Chief Sage Balor; And Minnie Driver (‘Speechless’, ‘The Riches’) plays Seanchaí. Francesca Mills (‘Harlots’, ‘Worzel Gummidge’) is Meldof, Zach Wyatt (‘Karen Pirie’) and Lizzie Annis are celestial twins Syndril and Zacaré. Huw Novelli (‘The Capture’) is Brother Death. The trailer also reveals the return of everyone’s favourite bard, Jaskier, portrayed by Joey Batey.

Other supporting cast members include Amy Murray as Balor’s apprentice Fenrik, Mark Rowley as King Alvitir, Daniel Fathers and Faoileann Cunningham as Osfar and his daughter Ryl. Kim Adis is Merwyn’s handmaid Ket, Nathaniel Curtis portrays Brían, Dylan Moran is Uthrok One-Nut and Hebe Beardsall is the lowborn Catrin. Ella Schrey-Yeats portrays the young prophet Ithlinne and her mother Aevenien is played by Claire Cooper.

Declan de Barra (‘The Originals, ‘The Witcher’) serves as writer, exec producer and showrunner, with Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (‘The Witcher’ showrunner) as Exec Producer. Original author Andrzej Sapkowski serves as creative consultant on the series. Sarah O’Gorman (‘The Witcher’, ‘Our Girl’, ‘The Last Kingdom’) & Vicky Jewson (‘Close’, ‘Born of War’) direct the drama. Jason Brown and Sean Daniel from Hivemind, and Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko from Platige Films also serve as executive producers.
