Merry Christmas & Happy New Year To Everyone!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year To Everyone!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, which means things are going to be slowing down on the site for the festive period. We will still be updating the UK TV Air Date page as things come in, but the regular posts will be less frequent until the new year. You can also see all the Christmas specials on our Christmas TV 2022 list.

I wanted to take this opportunity to say a massive THANK YOU to all the visitors to the site this year, and people that contact us and retweet/repost on social media. You help make Geektown a fun and happy place to be all year round, and for that, I’m eternally grateful!

After a couple of years of lockdowns and being shut away indoors, 2022 saw a proper return to normality, with Comic Con’s back in full swing, and being able to greet people without missing the lower half of their faces. Here at Geektown, that meant we were back doing in-person interviews, which you can find over on our YouTube channel. That included chatting with the cast of the ‘Halo’ tv series, the brilliant Colin Salmon, the cast of ‘We Are Not Alone’, the cast of ‘The Rising’, and the cast of ‘Transformers: EarthSpark’. We also recorded so many Comic Con panels this year, including the legendary Michael Sheen, the cast of ‘The Sandman’, the cast of ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’, plus a load of ‘Doctor Who’ stars, and so much more! We also did a pile of remote recorded interviews with people from across the tv, film and games industry, which you can find on our ‘Behind The Scenes’ podcast.

Whilst I hope you’re all looking forward to a wonderful holiday period, I know Christmas can also be a particularly difficult time for some. With everything going on in the world right now, it’s understandable to be struggling. If you do find yourself in need of help, please remember, you are not alone. There are great people you can talk to such as The Samaritans, Off The Record, and MIND, so please reach out to someone if you are having a difficult time, they are there to help and listen.

As some of you may or may not know, Geektown is not a big corporate entity. It is run by me, alongside a few dedicated geeks, who help bring you the latest news, air date info, and the Geektown Radio podcast, so I just wanted to give a big thank you to all the people working with me to make that possible. They include:

  • Matt and Robert from Entertainment Talk, who also makes a whole host of brilliant podcasts, some of which I co-host, and produce a wide range of great content! It has been a pleasure to work with you both, and I look forward to doing more next year.
  • Bex from TristaBytes – If you’re looking for some chat and entertainment over Christmas, check out her awesome and hilarious Twitch stream and YouTube channel. Over the holidays, and throughout the year, she has been raising a HUGE stack of money for charity via her Twitch feed, so please go and give her some support this Christmas.
  • And Geektown Radio podcast co-hosts Darryl and Gray. It’s a pleasure doing the shows with you and chatting about tv, gaming, and film.

I also wanted to say thank you to all the people that supply us with great interviews and opportunities throughout the year. A special thanks to the lovely press teams at Sky, BBC, ITV, Disney, UKTV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Netflix, Paramount+, Lionsgate, Roku, and Amazon, along with various Comic-Cons. It was so wonderful to be back at both Wales Comic-Con and MCM Comic-Cons over the last few months and I look forward to covering more next year.

Additionally, a huge thank you to all the PR agencies that provide me with the chance to chat with actors and stars of tv and film, and a special thanks to all the PR companies who bring us lots of interesting behind the scenes people to chat with, such as composers, game developers, production designers, cinematographer, costume designers, stunt people and makeup artists. It’s always a pleasure to hear stories about how these, games, shows and films are created, and I look forward to talking with many more next year.

On the tv side of things, it has been another golden year of outstanding tv shows, with multiple broadcasters and streamers pulling out all the stops to produce high-quality comedy and drama. We had fantasy series such as Prime Video’s ‘Rings Of Power‘ and HBO’s ‘House Of The Dragon’. There was amazing sci-fi such as Disney’s ‘Andor’, Sky’s ‘The Lazarus Project’, and Paramount’s ‘Strange New Worlds’. Dramas such as BBC’s ‘SAS Rogue Heroes’, and Apple’s mind-bendingly brilliant ‘Severance’, and comedy such as HBO’s ‘Hacks’ and Channel 4’s ‘The Curse’. And that is just the new series! We also had a stack of amazing returning shows such as Apple’s ‘Mythic Quest’, Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’, Prime Video’s ‘The Boys’, and Disney’s ‘The Orville’, plus so much more. I can’t wait to see what 2023 will bring.

Speaking of tv shows, don’t forget, The Geektown Awards are still running until 31st December 2022, so there’s still lots of time to enter and win either the HUGE main prize or the runner-up prize! So GO AND VOTE!

Lastly, I wanted to say thank you again to all the people who have joined our little community here at Geektown this year. Whether its coming and commenting on the UK TV Air Dates page, downloading the podcast, or signing up to the Never Miss System, we’re glad to have you here, and hope to see you again in 2023.

Wishing all the Geektowners a truly wonderful Christmas and a great new year!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday,

Dave – Founder and Editor of Geektown.co.uk

I will now hand you over to Captain Picard and his rendition of “Let it Snow!”…
