‘The Mandalorian’: Disney+ Releases Season 3 Trailer, Premiering March

by Dave Elliott

The Mandalorian (and his lil’ green sidekick) are back for a 3rd Season this March, as Disney+ releases the official trailer for the long-awaited series.

If you’re a little confused about the appearance of Grogu here, you need to catch up on ‘The Book Of Boba Fett’ series, which somewhat acted as ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2.5…

Season three picks up after the events of ‘The Book Of Boba Fett’, which saw our titular character shunned from his caste, with The Armorer proclaiming “You are a Mandalorian no more.” It also saw Mando reunited with Grogu, who was handed over to Luke Skywalker for training at the end of season two, but decided he’d rather go zipping around the galaxy with his step-dad in his sweet new ride.

As you can see in the trailer, this season is looking to be something of a redemption arc for our (sometimes) helmeted hero. Din Djarin is a member of the Children of the Watch, an orthodox religious sect of Mandalorians who followed the Way of the Mandalore, which means he’s not supposed to remove his helmet in the presence of others. After he confesses to The Armorer he had indeed transgressed on this vow, he heads to Mandalore to reclaim his honour.

Meanwhile, whilst Grogu didn’t complete his training with Luke, he does seem to have a stronger control of the Force now, as we see him “force push” a bad guy with ease! There also seems to be some more flashbacks to “Order 66”, so we may see how the little guy managed to escape the Jedi Academy which put him on the path to meeting Mando.

Pedro Pascal is back as Din Djarin, alongside Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan, Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon, Carl Weathers as bounty hunter leader Greef Karga, and Amy Sedaris as the wonderfully fun engineer (and provider of aforementioned sweet new ride), Peli Motto. Joining them this season is legendary ‘Back To The Future’ star Christopher Lloyd.

The series was created by Jon Favreau, who serves as head writer and exec produces alongside Dave Filoni. Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, and co-star Carl Weathers, all return as directors again this season. Famuyiwa has also landed an exec producer credit this year.

The Mandalorian‘ Season 3 premieres Wednesday, 1st March 2023 on Disney+ UK and worldwide.
